Title: Just Got My Build Week!
Post by: Talk-torque on 05 February 2016, 19:55
So, after ordering on 16th of January, my build week has just appeared on the order tracker! It's down as the week commencing 22nd of February. I'm hoping this means I should have the car around the last week of March, so around 9 weeks total.

Car is a 5 door GTi DSG in Tungsten Silver, with Carplay and rear airbags. 😀

Nice one, more excitement for you.

I ordered on the 28th Jan, and check the site multiple times a day looking for my build week

Do you need to ask your dealer for a build week or should they automatically inform you?
I've been meaning to speak to my dealer about this but just keep thinking that it's pointless as my car will be here when it's here.
I ordered mine on the 28th Dec

Its called managing expectations.

VW dealers will give you a provisional build week, if you ask, but this can obviously change to be earlier or later than expected so until a 'Confirmed Build Week' is set by the factory ( four weeks before production) its just an estimate.

Order my 5 door GTI PP in Carbon Grey on the 16/01 too, just been confirmed as build week 22/02.

I'm changing my 2014 GTD for a GTI.

I dropped the sales guy an email and he sent me a nice little video to show me how to use the tracker and a link that goes straight to the tracker for my car.

My salesman set out the communication path from the outset.
Once a month until the order was accepted and estimated build week given.
Then, every two weeks until it was confirmed for build
Then, weekly.
Also, he said if anything significant changed in between times he would contact me and he kept his word.
Worked for me
Lead times are getting shorter now so not long to wait. Use the time like lots of others on here and other forums do and start buying things for a car you haven't even got yet !!

Good to see at least a couple of Tungsten orders there, a great and very overlooked colour. My next order was going to be either Tungsten or Reflex.

Incidentally, there are two posters on this thread who are current GTD owners and there are a few more on here too who are now ordering GTIs; why the swap from black pump to green? Why not add DTUK box to GTD rather than get a GTI? Things like that always intrigue me.
I'm sure the financial incentives to buy a GTI are a big point but I'm just genuinely curious.
I speak as an early GTI (having had a string of them) adopter and now an R owner but I still have a massive respect for the GTDs blend of torque and economy for real world driving.

I started a thread on the subject ages ago and this thread has reminded me of it.

As for dealer communication, with my GTI order being only a few days after the order books opened and the massive uncertainty back then it was a case of "keep an eye on the forums and you'll know as much as me about a likely build date"
It was six months of torture. Thankfully I didn't spec change during the process to delay it further!
With my current car it was a lot easier "I've got three coming into stock, no options, if you want one hurry up and make your mind up" or something very similar to that anyway!!

Changing from GTD to GTi for a couple of reasons. I never really bonded with my GTD. While I admired it as an awesome piece of engineering - quick while cheap to run and rock solid - I never loved it. It always seemed a bit too smooth and progressive to me, never exciting. It's telling that I never have just gone out for a drive in it and I realised the other day that I have never taken any photos of it. The poor car must have a real complex by now!
The second reason is that I reckon the diesel/petrol balance is going to change somewhat, after the US cheating fiasco. NOx pollution is a huge problem that has been ignored in Europe and which is more difficult than CO2 to reduce. I feel that this may cause a big adjustment in used diesel values.
The VW incentives gave me the opportunity to swap cars earlier than I usually do without financial penalty. I reckon the GTi with a DSG box will provide the buzz that the GTD did not.
Colour wise, my GTD is Pearl Black and is a pain to keep clean. Tungsten Silver seems like an alternative that won't look crap when it's a bit grimy. Plus, I think it will look awesome clean and polished!

Early PP GTIs came with the normal silver badges but red ones were fitted to later PP cars.
Mine had silver badges.

I really need to pay more attention when I speak to people
PS
Is anyone going to dub freeze on the 20th ?

As I said in my earlier post, I should pay more attention when I listen. The car might be getting built next week.
Either way, having the tracking number won't get the car here any quicker so I'm not that bothered.

Your dealer should have emailed your tracking order within a week of you ordering the car. I had mine in about 4 days. Sloppy dealer, I understand you're not that bothered about it but I'd be more worried about what it says about your dealer.

I think I am partially to blame for some of the delays to be honest.
I ordered my car in the middle of October but told the dealer I didn't want to take delivery until March.
Obviously this meant that they wouldn't actually place the order until much later to prevent having a car rattling round the dealership for 2 months.
I don't suppose getting a tracking number after 5 days speeded the delivery process up anyway did it ?
I am very happy with the salesman I have been dealing with up to now and the process appears to be exactly as it was when I ordered my A3 in 2006.

You are right, getting the tracking number doesn't speed up the delivery but having a dealer/sales person keep you informed says a lot and as you said yourself yours isn't. I wouldn't be happy with that but as you don't mind then it doesn't matter.

Although can be quicker. Someone on here picked up their car 10 days from when the tracker turned to "build in progress" which is good going.

I'm sure I picked mine up 2 weeks from when it turned to "In Transit"

Mine was build week 01-02-16 but when I logged in it told me 08-02-16
So nothing happened week beginning the 1st then on the 8th it turned to "Build in progress"
Although its been like that all week which is surprising as it only usually stays at that for a couple of days.
Another GTI I was watching from the same retailer turned to "Build in progress" on Monday then "In transit" on Wednesday so maybe my updates have stuck as that happened with my GTD.

There are too many variables to give a time.
Your dealer might not have any allocation left or be a small franchise so can't order than many.
But it will go to build week confirmed generally 4 weeks before it is built.
Ask your dealer for an order number and what your provisional build week is. Or tweet vwuk with your order number and they will tell you

Let's put it this way. I would be happy to make a little sacrifice to the God of VW logistics if it meant I didn't have to spend as long in my hire car which is a Fiat 500!

Just curious about something.

The outstanding finance figure on the vehicle order form only takes into account the Jan payment.

As with the current car I want to get these docs signed this month, cancel the DD due for March and set up the next one for April.

What happens to the payment I made in February - does this adjust the figure on the finance documents I am yet to sign?

Yes, it'll be adjusted if you have a fixed p/x price rather than the dealership promising you the same equity (Benfield/Lookers do this now for PCPers chopping in).

Yes, that's ^^ what I was told. Have to say that a deal of trust is involved in the format of the order form. Your literal interpretation is understandable. How it works came out in my negotiations, as the dealer was struggling to find ways to get me to sign! It's only money!! .... and man maths!!!

CITY OF BARCELONA
EMDEN
WESER HIGHWAY

Now its time to see if I can work out if any of them are heading to the UK anytime soon.

Thanks Guys,

Again out of curiosity I've gone through the details of when I ordered my current car (brand new in December 2013)

The vehicle order form dated 3/12/13 gave an outstanding finance figure X which matched the settlement quote from VW Finance dated 28/11/13.

In Feb 2014 I had another settlement quote (when signing the finance docs) which had a lower settlement quote figure. They have used the original figure from 28/11/13 in the final calculation ???

On the payments statement it showed the last payment as returned yet the figure went out of my bank account and no payment went back in.

I'm confused.

The WESER HIGHWAY  has been at the Audi side of the dock.
The Emden and City of Barcelona are looking good

I got the 5c text the other day saying my car was near the UK and would be with the dealer within 10 days which I'm sure means its on the boat.  But I couldn't see any ships going from Emden to Tyne which I presume is the port they use for Scotland.
I'd imagine the car is in the UK now

I don't know for definite but Tyne is closer to Scotland than Grimsby so always presumed they wouldn't send them to a port further away than what they could. But you never know.

Teesside and North of there (including Scotland) go to Tyne as a rule, and as a rule Tyne Bound cars are generally quick to go as there's a lot of car carrier traffic due to Sunderland built Nissans getting picked up to ship to the continent.

its always 'city of' cars that bring the VW's into the Tyne as they dock on the north side where there are car storage facitlites

the really massive hough car transporters dock on the south side of the tyne where Nissan do their storage..easy to spot on google maps!

On second glance it states on the vehicle order form:-

Px and settlement to change - payments to remain the same.

I suspect the Feb payment will be treated as countering the depreciation although I'm puzzled as to whether this now becomes a new  contact and I have the power to say no thanks.

Not sure it was the City of Barcelona that brought my car in then as it is currently docked on the south side

Ahhhh! Just logged on to the tracker and my "confirmed" build week has changed from 22nd of Feb to the 29th!
Talking to my dealer yesterday about transit times and he said, as others have, that it depends on whether the car catches the current boat, or has to wait for the next one, as they are 3 weeks apart.

My build week has also changed from the 22/02 to 29/02

Hi MattCupra - ordered a 5 Door GTI PP the day before you and also been pushed back to w/c 29th! This wait is killing me... Did you order yours from Trust Wolverhampton?

Hi Multijim,

Yeah ordered from Wolverhampton.  Had to wait 5 months for the GTD so 2.5 months for the GTI isn't too bad.

Yip, going to see Rangers v St Mirren.

When I phoned the salesman on Thursday he said he had no date for the car coming up as the transport company they use ECM? couldn't give one due to the demand for cars for the new registration on 1st March.
Personally I think he was at it just in case we were demanding to get it for the new registrations on Tuesday but we've never once said that and to be honest that's not our style. Plus a private reg is going on it anyway.
He's probably being bombarded left right and centre from new customers wanting to show off their new 16 plates.

I'll avoid the rush

I got my 5c text on 19th Feb
Stage 6 text on 23rd Feb and then again on 25th
Arrived at dealer (stage 7) 26th Feb

So I suppose they give the 10 days so they have a few days to play with.

The long wait is nearly over. Got so see my 3 door black GTi yesterday for the first time and my decision to go for black has been vindicated. I don't care whether it's harder to keep clean than any other colour, when it is clean absolutely nothing beats it. With tinted windows and jet black tyres together with the black parts of the alloy it looks mean as f*ck.

One more sleep then I get to drive her home

The wait is a killer in the last week or so. When my sister in law bought her R8 in 2006 it came just before the new reg and the dealer let her have it a few days earlier before the new plate came in. She had to drive it on the garages plates until midnight on the 1st when she could take them off. Pretty nice of the Audi dealers to let her.

I would hazard a guess yeah constantly. I've never once heard or read something along the lines of a dealer saying They were full for that month come back the following one. They will take your deposit and spin you along.

Must be a logistical nightmare for them this time of year but I'm in a go with the flow type of mood. I'm sure there's people all over the country who have ordered various makes of cars getting all tetchy. It's a big twelve months for VW so their customer service has to be spot on. That handover will make ALL the difference for me ..

Hmm, as posted elsewhere, the wife and ordered ordered our new cars just this last Sunday (28th Feb 16) - A new GTI DSG (with toys) for me and a New Polo Blue GT DSG (with even more toys) for her.

Was really surprised therefore to have just have received a text saying that both cars had moved status. Just been to the on-line checker at the VW site and both cars have gone from stage 1 (Processing your order) to stage 2 (With the factory) in just 2 working days, and now says "Your order is with the factory and is currently being scheduled for production."

Is this some sort of record as on our last cars in 2013, it took about 6 weeks for it to even show up on the tracker !

Well, I just got an email+text saying that my car has been built and is in transit, so I never got a "being built" message. Happy bunny now, but I'm sure the impatiance will return before long.  :smug:

Reading through this thread, the whole system system seems to be a bit random, which I guess is partly down to the complications of producing cars with so many variables of specification and partly down to the tracking service being a relatively low priority. Either that, or the regular guy is on holiday and the tea lady is running the job!

With both the GTD estate and GTD hatch I had my tracking order in 5 and 3 days. Each time I checked the tracker when I got them and they were at the 'with the factory' stage both times.

I never bothered setting up the text notifications part.

Just had a call back from VW in reply to the email I sent them yesterday asking where the hell was my car.
It appears that it is STILL at the docks in Germany
Apparently it is normal at this time of year for the car to spend approximately 20 days gathering dust at a dock side.
What utter sh!te

According to the guy I spoke to, as soon as it arrives in the UK, your dealer is responsible for contacting the port to release and collect the car.
This can be done almost immediately apparently so I don't know what is causing your delay .

Dealer called tonight at 6. Car is at the dealership and ready to collect on Tuesday! Heading over to sign documents etc tomorrow evening.
Any advice on what I should be aware of whilst at the dealer's?
I'm going to try to get a full tank of fuel, reduce the price of gap to £200ish, and politely remind them not to screw up the diamondbrite application. Anything else!?

Get GAP via ALA/Honest John. They're currently price matching & beating competitors by 20%, I got 3years and £15000 VRI cover for about £120 the other day instead of £200... (use motorpocket as the comparison quote).

Excellent. Looks like your car had the same journey as mine although I've only been asked to go and sign the docs. I'll be delighted with a full tank of fuel although I think the haggling may have ended.

Would love a VW coat though ...  :smug:

Ha yeah a coat would be great in this miserable weather. I mentioned the full tank of fuel and the dealer said he'd see what he'd do.. Hmmm.
Yup I recon they were on the same ship.
Nipped over to Northampton vw tonight and signed the docs. I also asked where the new cars were stored and the dealer said they were in the impound by Mercedes. I snuck over and had a look around, but couldn't see it :-(. Lots of shiny new cars though... So many dreams about to come true!
Driving out though I saw hundreds of new cars in a separate lot, so must be with them.  Counting down the minutes until Tuesday now.

Reckon you're looking at 4 to 5 weeks after your build week. They do say "on average" so I guess it could be a little shorter than that. That would make it mid to end of May, so a bit close to the loyalty payment delivery deadline.

Be good to see some pics of the condition it's in when you get it, and the process to get it all cleaned up. I'm thinking of doing this if I go for a clubsport but may get a pro to prepare it, either on day one or at the dealers.

Okay - I'm getting a little miffed!

5B text was received 25th Feb stating on average it take 3 weeks from being in transit to being received by the dealer so in theory my car should be at the very least on a RoRo from Emden given there are at least 4-5 a week to Grimsby.

Have spoken with VW and my dealer both have stated there is nothing they can do nor can confirm the shipping date.

I'm not impatient - honestly!!!

I only got my tracker number few weeks ago and it was at stage 4 when I first entered it.
Since then I have had every stage update but it tends to be a a day or so slow in updating.
It's more accurate to phone them to be honest - 0800 083 3914 - and tell them your number.
They know exactly where your car is.

That's not good to hear since my GTI just arrived at Emden, I'm assuming it's now at the back of that backlog!

To answer the earlier post, I'm at 5b now but never got a 4 - mine went straight from "processing" to "left the factory" with no build status in between.
Title: Re: Just Got My Build Week!

Mine went from Build week confirmed to Shipping literally overnight!

Apparently there is a possible 1-2 week delay in shipping because of the backlog and sudden increase in production. Additional RO-RO's have been allocated but that might be just to clear the backlog.

It is very frustrating especially as I know there is nothing I can do to speed things along. At circa £100 a week for a hire car the profit I made by selling my old Golf privately instead of trading it in is quickly disappearing.

Hopefully it will leave this weekend and arrive in the UK Monday/Tuesday at dealership for 18th March.

Stage 4 - didn't get one
Stage 5a - 27th Feb

Picked mine up yesterday. Paintwork fine. Had a keyfob, a flask and full tank of fuel.

Just took it for a good run. I didn't think the PP would be much different but it's like a rocket - maybe just me but it feels like it has much more fizz. Breaks feel about the same as a non PP Gti.

Seatbelt tensioners far smoother, the stereo sound is much better and it makes a higher click noise when I lock unlock

The sat nav lady was a little quiet - could hardly hear her over Radiohead

It's got something called car connect/app connect - I think I have to contact the dealer for a code- how much is this I am wondering?

Happy boy - got a cheaper insurance deal too.

Oh the pearl black with tints is exquisite.

Haven't given her a name yet. Thinking Erika after the legendary Erik Gundersen.

That's really disappointing :( I ordered my GTD on August 1st 2015 and it wasn't delivered until March 1st 2016.  No idea why it took so long and its annoying when people ordered theirs in December and got them sooner than me! It was worth the wait and it's a 16 plate I suppose!

7 months is far too long. Sounds like your dealer didn't have any allocation left so couldn't actually place the order for a couple of months or without being a scaremonger it was damaged in transit which does happen and was either replaced or repaired.

My money is on the dealer not having allocation left.

First post here, but a lurker for a while.

Ordered my GTI DSG Tornado Red on 20th December 2015.

Still no build date.   My dealer has no clue and VW says only "contact your dealer".  Nobody will tell me honestly what is going on.  Maybe it'll be a 66 reg by the time it arrives or even a mk 8?

Grateful for any advice as to how to get a breakthrough.

Have you tried phoning VW CS on the 0800 number but your dealer should know whats going on.

Welcome to the forum. The dealer should have an order number and that way you can ask VW for a provisional build date.
You can also check it yourself on the VW tracker

That's really disappointing :( I ordered my GTD on August 1st 2015 and it wasn't delivered until March 1st 2016.  No idea why it took so long and its annoying when people ordered theirs in December and got them sooner than me! It was worth the wait and it's a 16 plate I suppose!

7 months is far too long. Sounds like your dealer didn't have any allocation left so couldn't actually place the order for a couple of months or without being a scaremonger it was damaged in transit which does happen and was either replaced or repaired.

My money is on the dealer not having allocation left.

The dealer allocation sounds plausible - smaller dealership in Dunfermline.  There were multiple changes in build weeks from VW.  Don't think there was anything untoward with the car as once it was built it was here pretty quickly - about three weeks.  It was parked in the dealership 2 days after it arrived at the port.

Thanks.  I have an order number but nothing appears on the tracker other than 'with the factory'. Also signed up for sms and email updates.   I had an on-line chat via my VW account and was told that my dealer had to schedule the production date directly with the factory.  My dealer says that's nonsense and that he always orders for asap production.  Not sure who is pulling my leg.

Tbh, I have been reluctant to look like I am complaining to VW about the dealer.  I have had about enough now though.  Dealer has not even returned my calls for a week so it is time to become the squeaky wheel that might get some oil.

The dealer can't schedule a production date.
That is purely down to the factory.

You won't be complaining by asking for a build date. I used to tweet @vwukhelp with my order number and they would tweet back when my provisional build date was and then when I had 2 different confirmed build dates.

Received my 5C text message this morning which is strange as VW CS stated shipping would be delayed by 1-2 weeks. Not going to complain but it doesn't make me wonder if VW actually have any control over their logistics partners.

The whole VW Order tracker, text alert, email alert seems to be nothing short of a shambles. And now it seems not to be working! Or is it? Who knows certainly not VW or the dealer. Our dealer tells us the car is on it's way but customer services tell us it's in stage 7 of 8 at the factory. Never heard that before. It's been at the factory being built for 3 weeks. Wish i never had the order number to track it. So frustrating.

Our lease deal is based on taking delivery in March but with all the delays that may not happen. Will the deal get cancelled? I have not asked the dealer that question yet as dont want to hear the wrong answer!
All the finance docs are signed and the car has a reg number just no idea if it will be here for end of March.

Any thoughts anyone?

Ordered a standard 5 door GTI with Deep Pearl Black FYI

I've been saying this for ages, it's pointless having a tracking number. It just makes the wait even more frustrating than it already is.
Just wait for your dealer to let you know when it's arrived and get on with your life in the mean time.

That's impossible as you can't get a registration number until the car has physically reached the UK.

Well, the reg number cannot be officially assigned to the car, but it may have been allocated one from the dealer's list. [/PEDANT]

I wonder if I would get my deposit back if I cancelled?

There's other numbers to call.  I can't remember who I spoke to back in the day, but there's a complaints team who get assigned your case when things aren't going to plan (ie. a step above VW CS) - if it wasn't for them and using their influence I'd probably still be waiting for my GTI   In fact, they've got more influence than your dealer who lets face it couldn't care less as he's already got his sale.

Do they give you a list of available registrations to choose from??

Stobart don't do the car transport work anymore, it's recently been taken over by BCA, not that that should make any difference to your car delivery

That means it was in build in progress for between 3 & 4 weeks.

Let's hope it's not sitting at Emben for the same time!

Yeah I'm resigned to not seeing it for any of the time I'm off work, I suppose I'll have a full 12 months tax on it when it comes instead of losing a month for the sake of a couple of days in March

I've got a pro detailer going in and prepping the car for me, the dealer has been quite helpful on that front which I didn't think would be the case.

Was there for about an hour. Walked round the car and was given sufficient time to inspect it but it wasn't inside the show room so didn't get the opportunity for it to be unveiled. That said it was clean inside and out and more importantly when I inspected the paint work this morning (was raining yesterday) the paint work is swirl free. All in all I'm pretty pleased, no hard sell on GAP insurance or other extras, so yea very pleased.

I was about 1/2 hour collecting mine. I didn't want the dealer showing me how anything works or setting up Bluetooth for my phone
I took a mate to BMW to collect his 3 series last year and it was an embarrassing spectacle, with a patronising prick off a salesman showing him every little gadget and gizmo while my mate rolled his eyes at me over the clowns shoulder.
They had it rotating on a platform for 5 minutes under lights while I admired the swirl marks in the dark blue paintwork.
Totally unnecessary and cringe worthy to be honest. Thank god it wasn't my car we were collecting
PS
I had to read the hand book when I got home because I didn't know how to lock the car without the key :embarrassed:

When I collected my last 3 series from BMW it was in the showroom covered with a silky black sheet which 2 salesmen pulled off and then the whole lot of them started clapping   they also had a plinth with a notice on it saying who you are and what car you are collecting..............I found it all quite funny but my Mrs loved it, I just asked for to be shown how the sat nav worked and that was it, it's easy enough to learn most of it by trial and error.

Got a stage 6 arrived in the uk text this morning, VW say 10 days from this point but also got an email from the dealer this morning saying he's hopeful for next week delivery but the bank holidays may chuck a spanner in the works

Richard managed to get mine delivered to the dealership and turned round with in a week of landing in the UK so there is hope :)

The dealership was absolutely rammed when i arrived yesterday so despite Diesel gate it seems sales are still healthy.

Get some pics up of the new motor

How was the handover?? Chuck you the keys in the car park and away you go??

Was there for about an hour. Walked round the car and was given sufficient time to inspect it but it wasn't inside the show room so didn't get the opportunity for it to be unveiled. That said it was clean inside and out and more importantly when I inspected the paint work this morning (was raining yesterday) the paint work is swirl free. All in all I'm pretty pleased, no hard sell on GAP insurance or other extras, so yea very pleased.

I'm hoping mine will be available for the 2nd April, it will probably depend on when the detailer I've got going in to prep the car.

I thought they'd do an unveiling in the showroom as I noticed an area they used for that when I was in there ordering the car, probably too busy a time to be doing every collection like that. I'm glad all went well for you though, I'm going to ask him to chuck in a rubber boot mat when I collect mine, it'll be handy to just chuck my work stuff on and not worry about dirtying the boot floor.

I went stage 6 over the weekend, hopefully not long to go now! Interestingly she entered the country at Grimsby when the dealer is on the south coast - I'm surprised it didn't come in at Sheerness?

Mine is on Teesside, and has been since last Thursday. The tracker says it normally takes 10 days from landing to get to the dealer, so I have been ringing daily, to check for a delivery! My dealer is as frustrated as me, though, as they have 11 cars overdue. Apparently they often get no warning of when a delivery is to arrive - the transporter just turns up!

How can it be that a £250,000 delivery of cars can be less easilly tracked than a £10 book from Amazon?

In the end, it'll come when it comes, but, bloody hell, this is frustrating!  :lipsrsealed:

Yeah I got my tracker update telling me the car was in the UK and the dealer also phoned to tell me they would be looking at another week before it got to the dealer.
Next day I got the stage 7 text saying it was with the dealer!!!!

Like you say, how can they track £10 items more precisely  Although I reckon the dealers know but just blame it on the transporters.

The dealer had a record of which boat it was on and when it was leaving - I was then able to track it online.

I ordered mine on Jan 29th and my build week is........April 11th.  Do they reserve build slots to build UK spec cars as a batch, I wonder?  I thought car production these days was all JiT, everything built to order rather than in batches.  Mustard, you ordered six weeks after me but your build week is only one week later.  I don't really mind, it just seems a bit random.

It is likely his dealer had a build slot that he could changed the spec of the car.

I ordered 2 days after you and I'm also expecting it to arrive at the dealers by the end of the week, I can't understand why Bubba's order is still on a build date stage, seems strange. My spec is 5dr DSG, CG, Tech Pack, Rear Camera, High Beam Assist.

Sorry just noticed you and But BBQ ordered a GTi, mine is a GTD

Its all about dealer allocation. For instance if they had already sold their next 2 months allocation then they would have to wait until the 3rd month before they could submit the order.

That is why the normal customer can't compare waiting times with each other as its nothing to do with who ordered first.

Yep they had one on order which was Red with PP and 5 doors so we were able to then change the spec to suit what we wanted!

Yes I think you're right p3asa, and to be fair I was told 14-16 weeks when ordering at the end of January.  My spec is a manual GTI with PP, Tech pack, Reflex Silver, reversing camera and DCC.  Like I said, I don't mind, since it gives me time to sell my current car during April.

Finally, mine has arrived, after being in the country for a fortnight! Think the dealer was more relieved than I was! Had a quick look tonight and happy with the Tungsten Silver - very nice. The car was, literally, just off the transporter, so it still had all of the wraps and pads and labels and writing on the screen, but beautiful anyway. My sales guy wasn't in today, so I'll be arranging collection with him tomorrow. As said elsewhere, I'm taking it unwashed, with most of the gunge still attached, so they've just got a PDI to do. Can't wait.

My dealer blames mad March for the UK hold ups. They've had 7 transporter loads delivered in the last week. Spoke to the MD last night as he was walking round the new arrivals with a HUGE bunch of VW key fobs. Absolutely nowhere to park - all bays full. Booked in for delivery Wed 6th.

Hope the delivery driver doesn't damage it on his 220 mile journey to Glasgow.

I've had a chat with VW customer services who were quite helpful, they chased the dealer up as they couldn't get the info they needed as the dept is closed on a Saturday, the dealer called me within 5mins of me speaking to VW and apparently the car is currently sat on a transporter and is due for delivery on Monday, nobody could explain why I had a 2nd stage 6 notification but it's no big deal as long as the car is where they say it is.

My car has finally arrived and well worth the wait. Anyone with missgivings about collecting their car "in the wraps", as I did, have no fear. This is what my car looked like after gently pulling away the taped on and elasticated sheeting and wiping away the wax crayon writing on the windscreen with a little WD40:

The car is not clean and there is glue residue etc. where the tape was, but it is good enough to wait a few days until I've got time to do a proper job. The sheets that cover the bonnet and hatch are really quite elaborate, held on with loops and elasticated edges, but none of them are difficult to remove safely. Best of all, the car has arrived home with no scratches or swirls!

I suggested ours just has the wraps removed and stickers removed and is not washed but was told this was not possible as they had to properly wash and inspect for damage/scratches etc.

Told them not to *uck upthe paintwork and tell the valeting manager i am a fussy *ucker and would be looking out for swirl marks etc.

I'm sure you could insist it's not cleaned in any way. The dealer could remove all covers and jet wash it down and check for scratches without doing anything else to it. The dealer I've used has been the opposite to yours, I've got a detailer going to VW to prep my car after they have PDI'd it and they are fine with not cleaning it in any way.

Where are you getting it from given you are in East Kilbride?

The valetting manager     That will be shared equally between 2 boys and a gritty sponge.

They could easily just take the covers and stickers off and leave it that way but you would then drive away basically responsible for any damage.

I would advocate for everyone just to have the covers removed but get it jetwashed after the state ours came in. As someone will eventually take theirs away unwashed and there will be some sort of paint defect like swirling under the covers and the dealer will put that back on to the owner as they took it away without the dealer being able to properly inspect it.

@Talk-torque loving the silver.

I'm surprised they've taken that attitude. You're saving them time and money at the end of the day.
My salesman was delighted when I informed him I was taking the car untouched. The previous day, the lads who washed the new cars had scratched the brand new R that was being handed over to a local lawyer known nationally as 'Mr Loophole' due to his knack of getting pissed footballers a fine instead of a ban. The guy was being a complete prick over it, rightly so to be fair
He said it would suit them if every car left the forecourt untouched but most people aren't anal over their cars apparently

I had  my GTI   from crewe  3 weeks ago , they made an excellent job  , like you  I told them I was very fussy and had spent the last 30+ years  examining paintwork on new Bentleys
so I would not accept  any shoddy paintwork scratches or swirl marks  ,
if  your car  get the same treatment you will have no reason to complain

I will remind them again tomorrow when i check we are still on for Wednesday delivery.

This just in from the dealer!

I’ve just spoken to our guys in the workshop and they have given me a couple of options in terms of cleaning it.

The first is to do a full valet, second is just to jet wash it and third is to take the stickers and wraps off and that’s it.

The valeters have advised me that if they jet wash it only, it’s likely to leave swirls in the paint work with no polish going on it. They have also said that if they do a full valet there’s a chance it could have swirls in it but much less of a chance than just the jet wash.

Our guys don’t do professional detailing but they have had experience in that side of it and everyone I know who has done detailing tells me that is the only way to really reduce swirls in paintwork but still not 100% guaranteed. The main reason for that I’m told, is that the paint on cars now is much softer than it used to be, mainly down to it not being oil based now as modern paint is apparently better for the environment.

It is entirely up to you what you would like them to do though.

So i have asked them just to remove the wraps and stickers!

Good choice?

Just take it away with all the wrappers on. I found one mark on the paintwork after I'd cleaned it myself which the dealer offered to sort out after I'd sent him a picture. I declined his offer and fixed it myself in 2 minutes.
It's not worth having them touch it, and if you let them know that you are an avid detailer, they should trust you not to f**k your own paintwork up
ps
Just noticed you have ordered a black car, so even more reason not to trust them!

It would be bad luck to have any damage under the wraps. If mine is anything to go by, the paint will be just as you would expect it to be underneath. Don't know what the protocols are for damage occurring in transit, but you'd expect the contractors to want to avoid any impacts or rubs, given the costs involved in repairs. The wraps are very easy, and quick, to remove, so maybe the best compromise is to have the wraps removed in your prescence. Any damage would then be visible, with blame not in question.

I actually enjoyed removing the sheets, myself, at home. Felt a bit like Christmas! I was lucky, as the paint underneath was perfect. I believe my dealership would have been OK if there had been anything wrong, but you may not want to take that chance.

It's quite suprising how many checks any car goes through prior to landing at the dealers. They are checked when delivered to the compound from the ship they are checked again by the transporter driver and the yard prior to loading when they arrive at the dealers they are checked again before getting signed off ok then checked again by the dealers big boys then again by us lol.. believe you me the transporter drivers do their upmost to get them to dealers as it's down to the drivers losing bonuses if any damage at all from being signed off on collection and arrival at the dealer
.. lol

What is build week 18? Is that first week in May? My build week was confirmed last week as the last week of April (w/c 25th).

Same as you by the way - 5dr GTI, DSG, PP, CSG

Looks wise for me the 5 door pisses all over the 3 door. Get a scirocco if you only want 3 doors.

The valeters have advised me that if they jet wash it only, it’s likely to leave swirls in the paint work with no polish going on it. They have also said that if they do a full valet there’s a chance it could have swirls in it but much less of a chance than just the jet wash.

Our guys don’t do professional detailing...............

Oh how I laughed     Pressure washing it can cause swirls??

So what they are saying is, they will jet wash it, it will cause swirls and they won't be able to put polish on to cover up those swirls?

And this is the guys that are preparing brand new cars

I'm pulling what little hair I have left out here...............the car I've ordered arrived at the dealers yesterday, I've tried to arrange to collect on Saturday only to be told they only do Monday to Friday hand overs, wtf is that all about??

I've got a lot on at the moment with work and my mother being rushed in to hospital on Monday morning so was looking forward to collecting the new car just to try and take my mind of things for a short while but that doesn't seem like it's going to happen. As it stands I'm not going to be able to collect the car until the end of the 1st week of May when I switch to my month of weekends at work.

Getting annoyed by the whole thing now

I feel your pain somewhat. Car has been sat at the dealers since Monday and I can't collect until the 19th due to work! I feel a little more patient now that I have an actual collection date tho.

Hope your mother gets better!

It's not really my style either but as I've got so much on at the moment a Saturday collection was the easiest for me, I haven't kicked up a fuss but the dealer says they will sort a Saturday handover out providing everything goes ok when the paperwork goes to vwfs and they get the OK by Friday evening, so fingers crossed

I didn't factor in them having to put the finance paperwork through because I have never bought a car through finance.

Cancelled my order today.

Ordered on Dec 20th last year and still couldn't get a build week as at yesterday.  I have had provisional build weeks 8 which moved to 12 which moved to 16 and which moved to 20.  But VW persistently refused to confirm a build.

VW UK blamed my dealer.  Said he wouldn't give them a requested delivery date.  My dealer blamed the factory.  VW refused to speak to my dealer and my dealer refused to speak to VW.

Yesterday, when I said I had better cancel the order then, my dealer nearly snapped my hand off.  He seemed desperate to get the order cancelled.

To add insult to injury, when I went to collect my deposit today the dealer had and identically spec'd car in his showroom, unregistered but refused to entertain the idea of me buying it.

I guess I got too good a deal and the dealer later had 'seller's remorse'?

What dealer was it.

I'm almost certain that I'm going to cancel my order tomorrow. It is due to be built next week so I need to do it asap if I'm going to. Just waiting on another(not VW) dealer to get back to me in the morning.

This is shocking behaviour, my dealership always do their best to acommedate my needs. :(
Sounds like the dealership didn't want to sell you the car. I would have took it further.

I'd love to name the dealer but my lawyer says not to.  I am in the Greater Manchester area if that helps.  I thought of taking legal action for breach of contract but potential return vs hassle and effort wasn't worth it.

I just put some carwow requests to see what would come up but I can't get close to the deal I shook hands on in December.  That said, I have a fantastic offer on a Mercedes A250 AMG 4 Matic so maybe all's well that ends well.  I am a big Gti fan and don't think there is anything that presents a better all round car for the money.  I just can't bring myself to pay a couple of grand more than I had previously agreed.

Gti 5dr DSG for £25,600 cash.  Funnily enough, I just got an insurance quote for an 'R' and was pleasantly surprised.  Could be an option too.  Should I get a deeper discount on an 'R' do you think?

It depends what options you have with that but that is an okay offer not a once in a lifetime though.
www.drivethedeal.com are doing that model for £24,798 but I think that includes the £1250 pcp contribution.
Whatever you do why don't you take out the finance and then pay it off within 14 days and that will get you another £1250 off the car.
Also if you or someone in your household has a VW you can get another £500 off.

I'm the same, this is my build week and no change. To be honest I'm not too bothered as my current GTD is equally as good as the new one.

Weirdly enough, the Polo Blue GT we ordered for the wife on the same day as my Golf got a build week of the same week as mine. Then on Sunday I received a text and a mail to say the car has gone from "build week confirmed" to "your vehicle has shipped". No intermediate steps at all. Looks like her Polo will thus turn up early May at the dealers.

Anyone know how often delivery is outside of this average? Do some people get their car in 2 weeks and others in 6? Or is it pretty close to 4 weeks every time?

I find time estimates really frustrating. I wish VW could say "your car is being built on xx day and will be delivered on xx". Oh well, the waiting and not really knowing is all part of the fun.

When I got my car and was tracking it, someone who was on the same build week had their car in the dealers 10 days from the build week start. I think it just hit the train and ship at the perfect time and it seems like an exception but it can happen.

It's joined the back of the queue at Emden I'm afraid! Mine sat there for 12 days earlier in the month but the backlog may have cleared a little since then.

If it helps, it took my GTI 3 weeks from arriving at Emden to getting to the dealers.

Hi all, great news for all of that your car is getting that bit nearer to its new home, just a general question - how long have you had to wait from stage 5b (shipping - waiting to be shipped ) to stage 6 (in the uk)

I had a tweet from vwuk saying mine is still at emden, been there 14 days now, and spoke to my dealer, they said I am scheduled for delivery at the end of May, well I hope it's before the bank holiday then!!!!

Stage 5c this morning, car is nearly in the UK. Average of 10 days to the dealership they reckon!
Had my 5c today as well, originally told mid June, then late May, may even be mid May if I am lucky.

Got my build week today 23/05/16. What's the average time you guys have seen from build to UK bound? All dependant on the shipping schedules I guess.

Just had the call from the dealer to say my car has arrived, but (and its a big but) they haven't fitted the DCC. Not prepared to accept it without, so either they have to retrofit it (if it can be), find one with the right spec or reorder. Not a happy bunny.

That's a serious omission. I personally didn't spec it but if I had, I'd not accept the car without it either

Wot plonkers!!! Bit you know the customer is always right lol o wouldn't accept it neither when I collected mine I checked every upgrade I specced with the salesman to show me they were all there fortunately they were  ..

I would be really annoyed about that but at least they've come clean about it. It's a shame the tracker doesnt show the full spec.

I would hold out for a new car with DCC though, I have them and they are brilliant.

Did your dealer give you a copy of the order form when you placed your order? I went through mine 3-4 times to double check they had added everything. Really sucks though, I'd be proper pissed - hope they are able to resolve it for you quickly

Thanks,

The order form definitely has the DCC on it, yet VW in Germany deny that it was ordered, strange then that all the available cars with dealers in the UK at present have it.

The salesman and the principal are very apologetic and have given me extra contribution, plus upped the trade in and promised a further sweetener, but still means I have to wait again

That sucks even more then. Least you are getting a few nice goodies out of it - but still doesn't make up for the anti climax of waiting! Have they given you a rough estimate how long a new one will take?

Hi,

A piece of interesting information. My friend has a new Golf match with a build week of this week, and I have an R on order due to be built next week.  My friend received a tracker update (and confirmed by chatting to VW) saying that his car is now built and in transit.  Apparently they are running a week early with car builds. His build tracker skipped the build process completely. I contacted VW via online chat any my car will be built this week or next.

It's looking good :)

Mine is at the docks in Grimsby and my dealer said I should have it by the end of this week / early next week!

I'm hoping for this week though, just sent off all my finance documents today and received my reg. What I thought was pretty cool is that my dealer rang me and asked if I wanted to pick my reg from an allocated pool. He reeled off a few different ones then said there was a 'novelty' one if I wanted it which was '**16 WTF' and it's safe to say I said yes straight away!

A piece of interesting information. My friend has a new Golf match with a build week of this week, and I have an R on order due to be built next week.  My friend received a tracker update (and confirmed by chatting to VW) saying that his car is now built and in transit.  Apparently they are running a week early with car builds.
That is very interesting. My car was down for build week 22 but arrived in UK at the end of the following week - which would seem to back that up as I could not understand how they built and shipped it so quickly.

Now the interesting thing is - will it have the BW 22 changes on it if it was actually built in BW21? I will find out next week!

Mine should be built on week 24 which ends tomorrow, yet no "Built" notification (although I haven't access to as detailed info as some UK members have posted). Is it possible that building starts and completes tomorrow or it means it's moving to the next week for some reason? Is it common for build weeks not to be respected?

Try asking on online chat. My car was built and the online tracker just showed the build week :)

When mine showed the build week it was rescheduled built few weeks earlier and it shipped the same week..

I have been checking the online tracker daily as this is my build week, checked at 7:30 and still showing Build Week confirmed, then a hour later had a text to say 'reached 5a - in transit'. 5 weeks for order to build, lets see how long it takes to get to me this time.

All good in the end. Contacted the dealer, logged in their system and said the car was in fact built this Wednesday and is now awaiting at the harbor, so probably two more weeks until delivery. If that's true it has only become better and better since placing the order.

First we estimated a week 31, then confirmed week 24 so delivery mid July, now even end of June seems possible, can't wait

What spec did you go for?
Below are the dates for mine...

1: processing order - as it sounds - 25/03/16

2: with the factory - parts are being ordered and are awaiting supply dates. - 30/03/16

3: BW confirmed - all parts are at factory and they've confirmed a date for build. - 22/04/16

4: Build in progress - as it sounds, although very often skipped on the tracker as actual build is only a couple of days. States is takes 4 weeks from start of build to delivery. - skipped

5a: in transit:left the factory - on it's way to Emden. - 19/05/16

5b: in transit:shipping - at Emden waiting a boat. Normally received 48 hours after 5a. - 22/05/16

5c: in transit:nearly here - on boat to either Grimsby, Tyne or Sheerness depending on dealer location.  At this stage VW can give you the name of the boat, but it sometimes skips this stage.  Now states 10 days to dealer. - 27/05/16

6. Arrived in the UK - as stated, takes up to 10 days apparently, although they try and do it within 7. - 01/06/16

7. At dealer - just needs PDI and valet alnd is ready for you. - Collected 10/6/16

Is Car-Net App-Connect not standard with Nav Pro?  This is what I was led to believe at the time of order, and has been confirmed by VW since.  That's for the GTI, mind, but I can't see it being any different for the R!
Title: Re: Just Got My Build Week!

So far as I know from the time of ordering back in April Car-Net App Connect I was informed it was an extra option (not standard) on the Golf R.  But on closer look at the configurator now I can see the Nav Pro option hase fine print at the bottom of it's description stating Car Net App Connect included.  But on looking at the Tech Pack description it states in small print the Nav Pro and Dynaudio Excite is bundled.  I guess they have charged me for the App Connect where they did not need to.  I may have to get on to the dealer.

Has anyone else configured Tech Pack and received App Connect as part of the pack recently?

Just to add to this I ordered my R on 11/04, was built start of last week (was at stage 1 of manufacture on Tuesday) and arrived in the Uk on Saturday. Dealer is aiming for a Saturday handover but did say that I have been really lucky with how quickly my car has got to the Uk further to being built.

This has been my best new car experience so far to date with my dealer being absolutely fantastic with the communication all the way through and the VW tracker is also a nice touch as you build up to getting your car

Ok this starts to become annoying...

Build week was week 24. End of week 24 I ring the dealership, the salesman who sold me the car was away so I spoke with a different one. He said: Car was built on Wednesday (15th of June) and is now waiting at the harbour. Great! No confirmation email from VW Sweden though that the car is built and at the next stage.

Week 25 my salesman was back , I ring him and you know what? he says: Building started on the 15th indeed but is not yet completed, probably some quality controls.  Does it really take one whole week for a car to be built and controlled in such an assembly plant like Wolfsburg? anyway I thought it can't be much long (although I don't get how I was told it's built and at the harbour).

Now mid-week 26, 2 entire weeks since building started and still no call from the salesman that it's complete. Does that sound normal to people that have some experience with VW building times? Because I'm currently thinking they have messed something up and are re-building from scratch or something. Thought this would take 1-2 days max not 2 weeks as it turns out to be so far. I'm just about to ring my dealership again.

Do you have your tracking number to track the build online?

Sounds like you're dealing with a crap dealer/salesperson. I use VW Birmingham and deal with Matthew Green there and he had my tracking number in less than a week and even though he knew I was tracking the car myself with notifications from VW he would without fail every two weeks give me an update.
Title: Re: Just Got My Build Week!
Post by: scanesare on 30 June 2016, 12:01
It's VW Sweden so my order number doesn't work with the VW UK tracking system, or unless you have a different link? I tried the VW UK online chat and they said they can't use my order number to track it, probably only works within the Swedish system i guess.

Anyways, as I found out after a few phone calls yesterday and confirmed by my salesperson as well is that the car was completed the 21st, is now awaiting in Wolfsburg and should be here next week, so hopefully no more than 2 weeks left for delivery. My salesperson has been moved to another dealership since over a month and he said the status was only traceable from within the old (mine) dealership's system that's why he was not so up-to-date... Whatever. At least it's clearer now.

Just found an email in my email account from yesterday from VW dealer stating my car was built and has left the factory.  I would not usually be too surprised by an email like this.  But on this occasion my build week was confirmed for 01/08/16 which means my car has been built 3 weeks earlier than sheduled.  This is baffling but a nice surprise.  However I have checked the VW Tracker to check if the info was correct and it has not updated from step 3 "Build Week Confirmed" yet.  Although the date for the confirmed build week is no longer on the VW Tracker.  So the email could be correct and I could be driving around in a Golf R by August.

The reason I an querying the email is it does not state the spec or model of car just that my car has been built, and the person handling the account has changed hands this month.  However the new person is really switched on and good at their job so I doubt she would get the details incorrect.  I guess I will find out soon.

VW seem to be turning cars around quickly at the moment. I placed my order on the 25th May expecting delivery in September. My car arrived at the dealers in the UK last Friday, the 8th July; so 6 weeks from order placed to dealer delivery.

The online tracker has been pretty accurate with regular notifications by email and SMS at each step of the build and logistics process.

I'm picking it up next Monday!

It does seem to be the case they turning cars around quickly.  The Tracker has been accurate, informing me of my cars progress earlier than my VW dealerr.  That is until now, when the Dealer has informed me of my car being built, while the Tracker is still showing build week confirmed except without the date which was on it only a week ago.  I guess this means I won't get the new registration number in September.  But if I can have my car earlier and enjoy the remainder of summer in it then all is good. Roll on the delivery of my car, I am ready for it now.

I got an email a couple weeks ago stating my car was built and on it's way.  I have just emailed my VW dealer for an update, as it had been a while since I last heard anything and was wondering whether to book off extra holiday leave to pick up the car when it arrives.  However on contacting my VW dealer today they replied with an apology and said sorry for the confusion but the car is not built yet, they were getting ahead of themselves and the car is confirmed to be built this week hopefully, finished and out of the factory by end of this week.  I was originally given a build date of 01/08/16 which is next week.  This means if I can believe the email my car has been moved forward a week earlier and should hopefully be built end of this week all going well.

This also means my query about accuracy of the VW Tracker has been answered...  The answer is yes the Tracker is correct when it was stating stage 3 Build Week Confirmed.  As my VW Dealer was the one who had confused the situation not the Tracker. My faith has been restored in using the VW Tracker

I am OK with the situation as the girl who has taken over the customer liason position is really good at what she does usually, so maybe she is just finding her feet in the new job role.  I will let her off with this one.  Plus although it delays the delivery of my car, it does make the decision of whether to pick it up before or after September 1st a lot easier.  I would say if it takes at least 3 to 4 weeks max for the car to be delivered then I may as well wait the extra few days or week and get the new number plate.  However if it delivered earlier and there is a few weeks to wait then I may weigh up my options.  :undecided:

I have also have just been informed it could be around 4-5 weeks to get the car from the factory to the dealership in Exeter.  This would make my decision a lot easier about waiting for the new registration in September.....  In the sense that it looks like I am getting the new registration, as there is no decision to make if it takes 4-5 weeks?

Friend of mine tried to order a GTD this week and was told by the dealer that they couldn't order a GTD any longer but could order any other Golf, any dealers on here that could verify this?

Yep, he was willing to put the deposit down and he said that when the dealer tried to put the order through he couldn't. He has an R at the minute but found out the week before last that his promotion includes an annual mileage of around 60k so he needs a diesel asap.

So Tracked my car this morn as it's the build week and to my surprise it's jumped to "in transit" and has already been built. So from here it's says 4 weeks to dealers which works out that it should be with my dealer by the 13th February, so the 1st March collection should be possible...Whoop Whoop!!!

I know this a little off topic but I didn't want to start a new thread just for this random question...so then I've just got a quote to get my hubs painted and the colours I can have either black or silver. Which colour do guys & girls recommend..? for my impending GTD. It's coming with 18in Negaro's...

Thanks for the advice, yeh my first thought out of the two colours was black so I think I will stick with that. It should look good against the red calipers and negaros. I was gonna change my order to the santi's but I really wanted a panroof this time round.

Don't suppose you have any pics of the hubs painted..?

are so i wasnt told bullsh!t then ,the colour carbon grey has been discontinued  the only one that was on the system didnt have what i wanted as i must have dcc as the roads are so bad round here so we found a black one on the sytsem that was allready in england i also went for the santiago,s
i had a gtd on a 65 plate the ride was very hard so i bourt some 18" standard type wheels but it didnt make any difrence so in the end i sold the car  :sad:if it had had the dcc option i would never of sold it as it had everything else that i needed so i went and bourt a 125 match its a realy nice car but it just isnt me after the gtd so i can take that back to the dealer and change it for another car as it was on the das auto so this is what i have done and bourt a new gti instead

Carbon grey hasn't been made for a few months and definitely no new factory orders for GTD/GTI/R are currently possible - has been like that since just before Christmas.

None of the orders currently being processed will be a FL.

When the order books reopen, those will be FL.

Carbon Grey will be replaced by Iridium Grey on the FL.

Little update today. Spoke with VW on the chat and my car boarded a boat called ''City of Oslo'' and should reach the UK either today or tomorrow.

Tracker says that my car is on it's final stage of it's journey to UK, from this point it take approx 10days to dealers.

So is anyone able to tell me where the boat might be at the moment (City of Oslo) as I'm useless at tracking boats..?

Thanks

So I've just had a nice chat with VW via there chat facility and they've confirmed that my car left the Port of Sheerness last Thursday so should be with my dealer by now.

I'm awaiting a response from my dealer to confirm this.

I so want to drive past there and have a look...might just say I'm popping out to get a MD toffee latte just as a excuse to go see it

From me tracking it..it only arrived in the UK on the 26th so it left the Port and headed to the dealership on the same day. Anyone heard of this..?

Seems rather quick to me.

^^^

If you have private plate no one would be the wiser but then a 66 to the new 17 resale would obviously be better on the 17.

I have a private plate but I'm still going to be patient, besides I still have stuff arriving so not everything is here yet

In at the dealers on Friday to discuss handover. While I'm there I ''might" pay the rest of the doe so collection day can be solely about the car. Or is this not a good idea..?

Also wonna make sure I'm getting my original wing mirrors covers...I know I am but just wonna make sure.
