Cancelled my order today.

Ordered on Dec 20th last year and still couldn't get a build week as at yesterday.  I have had provisional build weeks 8 which moved to 12 which moved to 16 and which moved to 20.  But VW persistently refused to confirm a build.

VW UK blamed my dealer.  Said he wouldn't give them a requested delivery date.  My dealer blamed the factory.  VW refused to speak to my dealer and my dealer refused to speak to VW.

Yesterday, when I said I had better cancel the order then, my dealer nearly snapped my hand off.  He seemed desperate to get the order cancelled.

To add insult to injury, when I went to collect my deposit today the dealer had and identically spec'd car in his showroom, unregistered but refused to entertain the idea of me buying it.

I guess I got too good a deal and the dealer later had 'seller's remorse'?

What dealer was it.

I'm almost certain that I'm going to cancel my order tomorrow. It is due to be built next week so I need to do it asap if I'm going to. Just waiting on another(not VW) dealer to get back to me in the morning.

This is shocking behaviour, my dealership always do their best to acommedate my needs. :(
Sounds like the dealership didn't want to sell you the car. I would have took it further.

I'd love to name the dealer but my lawyer says not to.  I am in the Greater Manchester area if that helps.  I thought of taking legal action for breach of contract but potential return vs hassle and effort wasn't worth it.

I just put some carwow requests to see what would come up but I can't get close to the deal I shook hands on in December.  That said, I have a fantastic offer on a Mercedes A250 AMG 4 Matic so maybe all's well that ends well.  I am a big Gti fan and don't think there is anything that presents a better all round car for the money.  I just can't bring myself to pay a couple of grand more than I had previously agreed.

What was the deal? What about a Golf R?

Gti 5dr DSG for £25,600 cash.  Funnily enough, I just got an insurance quote for an 'R' and was pleasantly surprised.  Could be an option too.  Should I get a deeper discount on an 'R' do you think?
