looks like you have had it up the rear :lipsrsealed:
That looks horrible. Have you pointed this out to the dealer yet?
I couldn't notice it before in the picture you previously posted and thought you were being exceptionally fussy
However I see it now. That is shocking. Its as if the paint hasn't bonded to the plastic and is just floating there.
Hope you get it sorted soon.
How can you not notice that while inspecting your car before driving it away from the dealers ?
RickS: The no plate was the work of Spooner who kindly helped me out with the signature.

I'll have the answer today as to whether it is covered by warranty.
I'll have the answer today as to whether it is covered by warranty.^ Well good luck with it and I hope if gets resolved. On the + side your LED lights look the business and I'm very jealous mine doesn't have them
VW Technical say the bumper deformation is standard on all GTi cars!
I think you are a very insensitive person to belittle a wonderful organisation like the Samaritans. I also consider it 'not funny' for you to poke fun at the concerns I have with my car. It might be an insignificant deal for you, but it is not for me.
I have spent my hard earned money on this car and expect certain quality standards.
Needless to say, you run a heap and don't care how it looks.

Maybe you should check out sense of humour on the tinterweb. Improve your's.
Also I 100% respect what the Samaritans do. At least we agree on something.
Tomorrow a guy is coming to try and straighten it with heat. He has experience fixing this type of plastic deformation.
Tomorrow a guy is coming to try and straighten it with heat. He has experience fixing this type of plastic deformation.I wouldn't try to botch a repair yourself until VWCS get back to you. If they find out you've messed with the bumper, it will provide the perfect excuse for them to leave you high and dry.

+1
By all means get him have a look and give you a quote but don't do anything until VWCS have made clear their stand on the matter.
nick
That's the ticket. Just get him to look
Did he give you any sort of written statement to that effect? If so, it would be worth sending to VWCS.
+3They don't or they would have delt with me back last year!
If VW people scan these pages (I'm a suspiscious barsteward)
Have you thought about driving up to VW in Milton Keynes and not leaving till you have it sorted? Another approach may be to threaten them with watchdog, or one of those other progs!!!
What a nightmare mate. Your gonna have to be in for the long haul on this one.
Maybe a strong letter from a solicitor may help?
'Escalation team' what ever next!
Another 58 post's you should have a medal Asker :smug:
First of all, the dealership did not tell VW that all GTi bumpers were deformed. VW basically lied to me! VW Inchcape, Telford were not pleased with this distortion of the truth. They are now dealing with the 'Escalation Team' at VW.
I have written a letter of complaint to Chris Craft, MD VW cars, and to the General Manager of VW Inchcape, Telford. I await their reply. I have made it very clear to all the concerned parties that I am more than willing to take this matter very much further and will gladly provide VW with as much bad publicity as possible.
Secondly, you can feel the deformation of the bumper in the numberplate area. Nothing to do with paint adherence or ripples. It is a moulding fault.
Hope this has cleared a few things.
I went down that route. They cannot return the part for a full refund. 20% loss. Then I'd have to pay for the bumper (if it seems ok & we would only know this once paint is applied)

Then I'd have to pay for the bumper (if it seems ok & we would only know this once paint is applied)I'm not with you here! If its a moulding fault like you stated and nothing to do with paint not adhering to it, why would you only know once the paint has been applied? You would surely see the fault without the paint?!?
I'm with dustybones on this. Get them to order it and if it is faulty, reject it there and then. If not, you have your proof.
Will your dealer insist you pay upfront? I know mine doesn't.
Yehaaa, about bloody time too !!

I am a man of letters and they worked to my advantage!
Might be worth getting them to stick the number plate on this time.
Might be worth getting them to stick the number plate on this time.
I think that is a very worthwhile suggestion.
Now the fun will start trying to source a decent bumper!
Good news.
VW have agreed today for the bumper to be replaced.
All because of the hard work put in by John Wood, Workshop Manager, VW Inchcape, Telford. I must also thank Andrew Poole, Brand Manager, VW Inchcape, Telford.
Good news. :smiley:Good News...at last - well done on your tenacity!

Now they have admitted it and the bumper will be sprayed off the car, I guess they can source and spray the bumpers to their hearts content until you get the one that you are happy with so it won't be long before you get the right one!

Ask them if you can stick the plates on that way they may be straight. :wink:Might be worth getting them to stick the number plate on this time.

You may get away with it not blended with it been red.

You may get away with it not blended with it been red.Just had my rear bumper re-sprayed from RMB Auto in yarm under warranty, done a really good job apart from a slightly lighter shade of white.
Was told it's very difficult to re-spray plastics and get them a spot on match.
What was wrong with it for Warranty usage?
When I had my front bumper re-sprayed due to a prang, they blended-in the wings.
I'll have my new bumper on Friday next week.
What was wrong with it for Warranty usage?Had a few tiny blue spots showing and also very little paint in the number plate recess corners so after 6 months of trying finally got it re-sprayed.

Disgraceful and penny pinching. I guess they were just hoping it would be unoticeable, or the customer would just accept it, which is not an acceptable solution.
good now its sorted, no more me me me me me.

Good news at last am1w.
Is red not the unluckiest car on the road i.e. the colour involved in the most accidents. Sure I red stats somewhere although could be talking a load of b@llocks.
You've not exactly been involved in any major incidents but have both your front and rear repainted. Maybe you should check your doors for any imperfections and get the paint joined up ?????????? at least
Good luck for trouble free motoring.

FFS what a nightmare you must be
What with you and your bumper and me and my wheel fetish..... what a bunch of numpty's
What's up with it?
Are they painting it for a 5th time or is it just the alignment that's not right?
Is this 5 times with the same bodyshop?
I'd be going off my head by now. How many attempts are you going to allow them to fix it?
You must have plenty of patience.
All fixed perfectly. In fact, both bumpers better than new.
Delighted.
The end!
Driving all over the place for the last few hours. VW also turned on my Tyre Pressure Monitor.
Totally chuffed.
It must be like getting a new car after being so long with out it. Happy days...!
So nearly thereSits waiting for the middle bit to now fade with age to pink while the front and rear stay red.
Asker
I think your diffuser is out of alignment

Because you sat on it and then you twisted.
Geoff: Thank you for enviously noticing my shiny stead.Redone with toughseal since it was painted ?
Never polished the car. It's the Toughseal that enables the shine to develop so beautifully.
Gizzy. Good morning.
I am so paranoid, I actually went out in the pouring rain to check my diffuser alignment!

I think the same person painted this one red too.
