I highly doubt chavs can afford a 200bhp hothatch let alone the insurance at group 17! 

It is amusing though that the average honda owner is 60+ and yet all type r drivers are averagely 24 i think we worked out on the ctr forum.

I've driven both and can honestly say that the Vtec is harder work to drive fast. I agree that the GTI may be a lazy man's car - but only because it means that the power is more accessible at lower revs and therefore easier to drive faster and therefore a better solution for everyday fast road use.

I don't need to do anything to my motor to get a 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds as it can do that as standard (well 5.66 anyway )

I can see the lure of a high revving hot hatch may prove too much for "the young ones", but with age comes wisdom and there lies the lure of the VW GOLF GTI.

My ctr was running at 230bhp but it really cant get the power down,

Moved onto a 260bhp s3 and that was sooo much faster! Sold that for the ed30

The ed30 is even better still - Now I just have to resist a remap to 300bhp =]

When I had my ctr i used to think gti's where for old men to! =]

and I think the fact that my 300+bhp ed30 can put the power down beautifully (after a bit of practice), is a testiment to the quality of the GTi chassis etc. Luck1ng - give in... you know you want to...

It is much better, but then its around £8,000 more expensive so i would hope it was tbh

I used my friends Honda S2000 which personally is a very nice looking car but when i drove it, didnt enjoy it asmuch as my GTI. No comfort what so ever, you feel every bump on the road, and i feel as if you really need to wait for the "v tec" to kick in. Car feels abit laggy till about 7000rpm and then u just get stuck in ur seat....not for me....i prefare my power all the way through....even thou the S2000 may be faster than my GTI....i think id still go with the GTI

S2000 is old skool vtec, much more raw with less power and torque low down than the k20a (mine) Get it round a bend/roundabout and you will struggle to find anything more fun being rear wheel drive with a fantastic set-up. As a daily car the gti wins easily bud, thats what makes it very good as it does eveything

Hopefully push it as hard as my ctr, no idea what the gti's are like in handling!
