Gradually build up to full revs after 1k miles. At 600 miles you should be thinking about adding another 1k revs

owned a ctr for 2 years, total crap! after driving the ed30 my eyes where opened!

The ctr drives like a bucking bronco! It will try and kill you!

No feed back at the wheel at all,

You obviously could not drive then. I find it more exciting with the higher rev limit and vtec. The gearbox is magical but yes the feedback isnt great...please point out where i said it was  :undecided:
The golf is a great car, i 'personally' do not find it exciting as i know alot of people dont, i also know of people that do though.

I have to say that for somebody that lives on the isle of wight, you cannot possibly drive the GTi and test its handling properly, as it only has one road thats any good (being Military road). the island has only minor roads!,and and an average age of 60 years old!. Get on the mainland with it!!. you might be surprised.

There is actually quite alot of good roads. Military road is good if you want to go in a straight line but that gets boring fast!! Dont get me wrong im not putting the golf down bud, i loved it, just my type r excites me more. Maybe its because you have no idea if you may die round a corner in it lol (this forum needs a laughin smilie, this will do lol )

i have experianced the Ctr aswell, and thought it was total pants. It only performed when you revv'ed the nuts out of it,which you cant do on  a daily basis or where ear defenders when you do!.I was glad to hand it back to my mate, who's recently got shot of it, and bought a clio cup 197 instead. The Golf is a much more better prospect with pulling power in all rev's and not just over 5000rpm like the ctr

Thats why i am getting kpro! Will give me launch control, drop vtec to 4.5k rpm and raise the limiter to 8500rpm. With a few brething mods (which i have) will give 230bhp and 0-60 in around 5.6 secs

whats the famous quote.......... that Clarkson came out with

"if you buy a Honda, you end up with a Honda!"
No matter what you do to it, it will never be as good as the Golf GTi.
a simply Revo chip will do the same,. up the HP to 240 for £500 and you will have the beating of most performance hatches, especially the high revving tyre R.

I spose the only plus point of i could think of having a civic R would be it drowns out the wife when trying to have a quiet conversation whilst driving. One thing i'd wish the GTi would but doesnt

Mine is very quite unless doing 100. Maybe you have been in the pre-facelift (less sound deadening)

hmmm
 240bhp gti
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) :  183.62
230bhp ctr
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) :  194.10

I doubt you would 'beat it'

I think it comes down to preferences, the gti is a lazier older persons hothatch with subtle styling and low revving high torque engine. Ctr is for younger people who enjoy putting their foot down using the revs, with in your face styling. Both fantastic cars with good and bad points.
