Best 'chip' company?
« on: 07 September 2007, 15:36 »
Hi guys.
New to the forum.
My mum has just bought a brand new 5 door dsg gti in silver with every extra except the seats and audio upgrade
Hopefully i am being put on the insurance as i realy enjoyed it when i test drove it, very relaxing and comfortable (although strange having the car change gear being my first semi-auto car lol!
I am after some advise on which remap company to go with after the car has done a few more miles (next summer i expect) I have told my mum of the mpg benefits (and the power will be nice when i am driving it)

What have you guys seen in terms of improved mpg and bhp. I know the dsg hits 60 quicker than the manual and the power to weight is about 150bhp/ton iirc. I read somewhere that the claimed 6.9 is actually higher than the car hits?

Cheers

lol i know most of that, i have read threads and they all have 'claimed' figures. Was hoping some people with proof (e.g. rolling road graphs) could show me.

ok, Your DSG GTi will hit 0-60 in 6 secs, using launch control. especially if its been run in (meaning approx 10000+) you have 197 bhp.Revo are the company  best for Chipping IMO.£500 giving you estimated 40bhp. Mpg doesnt exsist in a MK5 GTi, its better known as "smiles per gallon".
Expect roughy 26-28 town average, maybe 1 or 2 miles less if chipped.Motorway cruising expect 34-35mpg at 70 mph.Running on 99 octane fuel and not cheap nasty 95 unleaded.

i would put it in(D) drive position , and push the lever left to use manual mode, and have fun with the paddles on the steering wheel.
And yes it will feel abit sluggush at 1st, try and avoid using SPORT mode just yet,  that one is bestest buddies with your fuel needle . Enjoy.

I put it from 40 to 80 is sport. I will have ago more with the paddles when my mum gets it to get some more fun. Not a fan of point and squirt so getting round some twisties should be fun. Hopefully push it as hard as my ctr, no idea what the gti's are like in handling!
