I'm almost sure they're 100mm but will check later.

Mate drove the rising blue one that Lookers 'Boro have and wasn't impressed - he though it was slow and lacked grunt (he has a stage 1 MK5 GTI) - I thought it might just be down to the engine being new and tight?

How did you feel the R went compared with your MK6 GTI?

So went to Lookers VW at middlesbrough today to try and do a deal on a new Golf R, wanted to trade in my 59 plate GTI (12,000 miles, absolutely mint etc) and got offered £15K and £300 extra if i left the BBS CK's on!!
It's hard to gauge a PX value, has anyone any idea's on what price i should be looking for.
Oh he also said he'd knock a grand off the RRP on the Golf R. :undecided:
Going to try Pulman VW @ Durham tomorrow and see what they say.
I actually ordered a new R yesterday [Price with my spec added £38,134], traded in my March 10 GTI with 7500 miles on clock [spec as per sig]. After a lengthy discussion and some bartering I ended up with £18,134 for the GTI, this is allowing for 6 months before delivery of the R, so actually I got the equivalent of around £19,500. No discount on the R though, but I was happy with the deal overall. It's not so much what you get for your car but what the deal costs you overall, yours is a bit older than mine and has more mileage, but £15K is taking the p***

I think they'd have had to carry me out of the showroom on a stretcher with an oxygen tank attached to me to sign up for a deal like that.
''Here's a perfectly good less than two year old overpriced shopping car and twenty grand sir, now please can I have one of those shiny new Golf things"

Fair play to you, but the more I think about it the less I have in common with modern Volkswagen drivers. I'm off to find a Kia forum.

Yes Jim, it is a bit steep, but a great car by all accounts. Can't wait to get it - dealer estimates delivery July/Aug. Apparently the DSG box is in short supply currently.

Jim, in case your wondering why I say "great car by all accounts" when I've just bought one. My dealer couldn't find me one to test drive - so to check out the DSG and whether it suited me or not the only similar car they had with DSG was a GTD, so I tried it out in that. I love my GTI so I don't think I really needed to test drive the R to know I'm going to love that too. The DSG box is awesome. [This is coming from a lifelong manual driver]
