Looking good mate and gald they've sorted the stuff out for you.

I would'nt polish the car for at least few months, if you want to treat the car to a nice spruce up i'd do the following:

Clay it
Seal It
Wax it.

Cheers,

Jim

Todays update on the sill trims;
They will use steel ruler and scalpul and to trim excess off so they are not visible externally.

Your a brave man. It wouldn't be me as they are likely to go through the paint. Plus how will the trims look once they are cut?

Car is looking great. Sympathies for your dad. Working in mental health I've worked a lot with "Dementia" patients and it can be a traumatic experience for the family. I'm sure he would be pleased with what you have spent the money on.

They will cut the trim at the fold/corner of the panel/sill. Been assured that a "gentle" cut will score the trim and it will be easily removed....... Worse scenario and they look SH**, dealer takes them off, repairs any damage to sill and gives me me pennies back

Why not polish it????

Wait a couple of weeks then you will see why your lovely White car needs a clay bar. It will be full of little rusty dots of fall out from the new brakes. Every new car suffers most but you mostly see it light cars :-( same with the 1 million tar dots you will see.

Welcome to white

i wouldn't waste your time claying a brand new car. i have lay but will wait for the spring to use it.

i would suggest to use a gentle polish/cleaner like autoglym high resin polish (has barely any cutting at all but is a good cleaner and makes candy white look great), then add a couple of coats of decent wax.

i washed, polished and waxed my car the day after i got it new and it was fine for 3 months but then a couple of weeks back noticed a lot of specks of fall out on the wings and boot lid

seriously you don't wax it candy white is nightmare to keep clean!

i used meguiars gold class wax originally but it seemed to have worn off a couple of weeks back when contaminants started sticking to my paint. i topped it up with tech wax every couple of weeks too.

i did the same routine last week of polish and 2 coats of wax but this time used meguiars ultimate wax and its very good

car was minging today and i waxed it and the dirt literally slid off so i think the ultimate wax is pretty good. no specks of dirt anywhere!

also seal your wheels (i used poor boys and its excellent). the dirt, salt and brake dust just slides straight off and is well worth the effort as cleaning my wheels takes seconds now.

they will defiantly be able to trim it with a blade without marking the paint.

same way vinyl is applied to car bodes and trimmed. the weight of the knife is pretty much enough pressure to score the vinyl for it to be trimmed.

Yeah I'm not doubting someone that has the knowledge to do it, will make a good job but I can imagine it will be given to the sponge monkey to do and him putting all his weight on the knife and cutting right through the paint.
I'm sure the line of rust will be a give-a-way

personally i would just do it myself as the less times the car is a the dealers the less chance there is of it getting damaged to be honest!
