I personally dont see point in owning a GTI or anything performance related if you are gonna worry about fuel and MPG so much

get a derv....

sums it up really

Yep :afro: buy it, enjoy and drive it as it should be driven, hence why mine is sitting @ 22.4mpg at the moment .

I bought my GTI 8v as a weekend toy and to do it up.

It needed a bit of work for the next MoT but I think I did a decent job as it passed yesterday with no advisories...WIN!

Anyway the point of my post is, I sold my work hack at end of May and have been looking about for soemthing a bit different to travel in yet get good economy.

I have been driving my GTI to work (60 mile round trip) on a mixture of country roads, High Streets and Motorways and it's costing me about £10 a day and the MPG is coming up at an average of 35mpg with a good thrashing on the motorway once warm.

No point, just wish I could afford a weekend toy, plus 35 mpg is good

Ah got you.

Well the Golf is turning more into a daily driver as I been on the hunt for what I want for a couple of months now really. Maybe I am to fussy

I love driving the Golf although I borrowed by mates MK1 Convertible yesterday while my car was in for its MoT and that was awesome fun!

Anyone has a Polo Breadvan for sale please let me know, I have a new project in the works!

Sorry, didn't quite explain myself properly  :embarassed:

It's a great drive, really enjoying it now, just trying to sort out some little niggles here and there, then hopefully will be able to rebuild my bike.

My 8v gti Over the last 1200 miles I have seen an average of 28mpg mixture of roads. I don't drive it hard ( as it slow as....) they really aren't that fuel efficient, as was my Ibiza with the same engine. My 20vt Ibiza cupra was better if driven sensible. My bro's 16v gti seems to be more efficient and he drives like a dick

Took my MK3 Anni 8v for its first big run over the weekend, down to BugJam & Back!

Combined total milage of 440, used a full tank and a half!?!...But that did include some parked up/ticking over, so we could listen to music with some deep bass from the Sub

So yeah, didn't really find it that economical but we were doing a steady 80-90 there and back, which is never gunna' make it that economical is it!?
