I far from "drive like a granny" and mines still high, my trip computer reads 42.7 mpg for my driving, so I say around 38. The car has always been well serviced and maintained so this would have a positive effect.

id say your computer is not so accurate, mine was serviced as good as it could have been using only genuine parts

i only got high figures if i drove like a granny

I've only got figures like that driving at constant 60.

Got the computer to read 50.1 mpg over 30 miles (mixed roads as well) when I really drove like a granny. So bored though

I'd say if fuel consumption is paramount an 8v is probably not the best choice, they're not bad but not great either.

theres a difference between driving like a granny, not driving like a granny and red lining it everywhere...

in comparison to my old V6, this is amazing on fuel.

Normal driving in mine around town 28-32. Motorway 35-40. 40mpg is sat at 70 over 128 miles. Those are pretty accurate and what you are likely to expect I think
Classic Green Corrado VR6 Storm | Jetex Cat back | BMC CDA | VT mounts | Bilstein B12 | 288mm front brakes | Mk4 rear brakes | Goodridge braided hoses | BBS RX228s | Shortshifter | Lupo wipers | Uprated headlight loom | All red rears | Refreshed leather | Fresh paint |

most 8v's are not economical averaging around 26-35 miles ,better off getting a diesel like me 50 mpg on a crap day and 67 on a good day.

I would add that its not a great idea to rely on the MFA as I don't think its that accurate. However, on a reasonably long run if I drive like I need a prescription windscreen I have seen 48mpg indicated, so I take that with a pinch of salt.
