Steve, my MKVI is manual and it replaced a DSG Scirocco. DSG is a brilliant piece of engineering, for an auto box and not everyone wants an automatic mate. Simples.

Went to dealers today to try other DSG boxes. They had one in a Touran, and that was deisel. It had a very slight shudder on stopping but nothing as pronounced as mine. Plus it was deisel so theres always a slight rumble from the engine on idle or on coming down to idle when slowing down to a stop.After having driven the touran with the SERVICE manager and then going back in mine,we agreed that the judder/shudder was worse on mine and probably tolarable on the touran.The SALES manager also drove mine and admitted that he would not accept that on a new car and suggested that they locate a like for like car to compare it with and if still no joy , then rejecting the car with a formal letter. TBC

Different products suit different people.  I can understand why people like the manual transmission, but I also find the DSG is wonderful.  Both have their advantages, and it's down to personal preference.

I don't feel any need to insult people who have chosen manual cars.  And since I drove one myself for nearly 40 years I don't think I have anything to prove.  What sort of insecurity is it that makes (some) manual owners insult DSG owners?

Glad to hear VW are agreeing its not right mate. Hopefully they can just sort it as it might be something simple. I dont think TT comes on here any more as he was a pro with DSG. Worth PM'ing him though incase he checks (he should get an email) Tuetonic_Tamer i think it was, spelling may be different.
He knows all there is to know and wrote most of the Wikipedia info afaik!

Would be much better than going through the rejection route and trying to find something similar!
