shudder on DSG box
« on: 17 March 2010, 00:20 »
does anyone out there have a mk6 gti DSG? If so have you noticed a slight shudder when breaking and coming to a gentle stop. I noticed this last friday when i picked the new car up. At first i thought it may be the brakes bedding in so i kept it over the weekend. By sunday afternoon there was no change. On Monday i took the car back to the dealers. The workshop manager and the an engineer came out in the car and both agreed there was a shudder when breaking to a stop. I told them to keep it till it was put right. Today(tuesday) they phoned me saying they could'nt find anything on diagnostics but said they had a couple of other cars(not golfs) with DSGs that had the same shudder and was characteristic of the DSG.Shurely this can't be so. I test drove a DSG from another garage months ago and did'nt notice anything at the time. Can anyone shine a light on this problem?? Thanks.

sounds like a fob off to me - how can they compare your GTI to other non GTI cars with DSG boxes

sounds like a dodgy mechatronics unit - tell them to check that as its a known problem

also when you next come to a stop keep an eye on the rev counter when the shudder happens - if the revs drop suddenly then shoot up to c1200rpm before settling at 8krpm - you have an issue

amazes me how these vw tech's tie their shoe lases in the morning

You mean 800 rpm if it settles at 8k you really will have a problem
Golfgti build quality is average at best.

Don't hackney cabs shudder too when they come to a stop ?

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

But then their owners slow them down again by adding lots of options and the bigger slower wheels
