I've got a slight squeak/noise coming from the passenger seat and the front fog light access cover in the near side wheel arch is missing/fallen off but both these things are being sorted by my dealer under the warrenty.

The headlight washers are annoying me a bit so may remove that fuse...other than that the car's great

Yes.

Might be worth having a look over in the mk5 section.
DSG problems seem to be a common theme at the moment......

Them faults are nothing new, people who work in the workshop section of the dealers all know about them for years just people on forums before did not want to know
Same as the manual also has its faults

The mk5 and mk6 coment im not sure why thats was said has that poster moved from a mk5 to a mk6?. The mk5 rattles worse than any VW group product we have ever owned! Im expecting the mk6 to be little better.
Lets see what the two mk5 i have access to have had problems in the past 5 years. They have had, steering rack click fault, rattles from driver & passenger door, rear seat, rear doors, grill top of the dash, steering cowl, rear shelf, rear suspension. Miss fitting doors, the DSG control unit fault and others.

Wasnt I reading somewhere that the rear view cam had changed on the 2010 builds.  Did they move it from the VW badge to down by the side of the number plate?  Interesting that tho Freakinsweet, I've specced the cam on mine.  What do you see on the screen, just black where the cam isnt popping out?

The screen is just black. You can still see the guidelines though and I also hear that the motor that flips the badge tries to do its thing but kinda gets stuck immediately. I do miss it so I will bring it in for a check this upcoming week.

Agreed. My mk5 faults, air bag light pinged on randomly once (common fault under the passenger seat), Radio didn't put out on the front passenger side (radio replaced) thats it.  All the rattles where the ones I put in it (all my rubbish rattling).

Having run just under 1500km, I have noticed a few minor "faults" with the Mk6.  Please note that this is my first VW and that this is also the first time i have owned a turbocharged car so some of these may be normal..

1. Mild diesel-like clatter at idle..
2. Very nice interior but minor interior rattles do occur.  My spartan 1-series interior was still devoid of rattles even at over 3 years.  But overall, the GTI interior is still much better than most other cars in this class.
3. Sid mirrors collect too much water during car wash sessions which get sprayed onto the freshly washed body upon reaching motorway speeds.
4. Nice sound from the motor but feels monotonous somehow.
5. Motor feels like its about to stall when slowing down.. (DSG fault or normal?)

Don't get me wrong, I like my new GTI and these are but minor issues that can be overlooked as long as there are no major underlying causes.
