Faults with GTI
« on: 22 January 2010, 22:30 »
I have a few faults with my car some off them maybe me being picky (Not Sure). Just wondering if there are any other faults I can expect?

- Brakes sometimes go really spongy,   VW can't find a fault........   Does not inspire confidence when you drive hard and is going back for the 2nd time as I consider this to be dangerous, if they find no fault the I'll try another dealer.

- Ashtray doesn't always open when pressed...   Being changed at 1st service.
- Rear cup holder keeps popping open... As above.
- Passenger door has terrible wind noise and also noticed that the bottom of the door is not flush when shut, by about a 1mm
- Finally a few yellow dot's around the rear, (which I new about when ordering, a mate also has these on his VXR Nurburgring) ... Going to be detail at first service, dealer says that with regular washing they will improve and come off easier when it's detailed. I'm not sure...We'll see

The only fault that i have found with mine is that the rear cup holder has fell apart,
Think someone has caught it getting in or out, so it has been in the rear side pocket for two months (dont see it from my seat:smiley:)

I have a fault on mine where the light on the drivers side sun visor mirror someimes stays on even when the mirror cover is shut... Keep meaning to go to VW, but seems too much effort for something so small...

Will get it sorted at first service.

Are the yellow dot's around the wheel arches?

Does the brakes do that after alot of hard use or just out of the blue?
If its just out of the blue then theres a fault and it maybe something simple like air in the system or a cylinder is not sealing or a number of others things.

Did I read something else about the fuel cap design as well ?

I'm sure someone opened their's too hard and far (or caught it when it was open) and it put a dent in the back wing

When he got it sorted,  the dent man said he had done loads of other new Mk VI Golfs.

Coming up 3 months and 2500miles. No problem to report. Some rattle around front passenger area on certain surfaces (Sport mode only). Not sure whether that is just the seatbelt scrapping on  the B-pillar.

If the car behave itself, I might start my usual mod

That was me but I think mine came from the factory like that even although 2 of us inspected the car before I accepted it and we never saw it but it couldn't possibly have happened anywhere else.

Yes the dentmaster guy told me had sorted a few brand new golfs with the exact same ding.
