Faults with GTI

My reverse cam has stopped working. Fully expected, crap construction to begin with. The VW badge no longer flip when I put the car in reverse. Sure, we have had a lot of snow and ice lately but come on...they test all cars up north in Sweden for months and the construction should be able to handle the stress.

Will bring it in for a fix later when I can be bothered. This issue is not really related to the GTI as such, I would imagine anyone with this add-on could potentially face this problem.

Does the reverse camera always pop out when reversing, or only when the radio is turned on?

Wasnt I reading somewhere that the rear view cam had changed on the 2010 builds.  Did they move it from the VW badge to down by the side of the number plate?  Interesting that tho Freakinsweet, I've specced the cam on mine.  What do you see on the screen, just black where the cam isnt popping out?

The couple of occasions when mine hasn't worked, it either does nothing, i.e. still shows the regular stereo controls, or, there's a blue screen (not quite of death!)

My friendly dealer simply removed fuse no. 36 (20A) and the headlamp washer system is now disabled. If I ever decide i can't live without them I'll just replace the fuse. This fuse doesn't affect anything else and is now in the glove box just in case I ever feel the urge to waste gallons of screenwash.

Thanks Mate. This is one of the most annoying feature of the car esp after spending hours cleaning the car the day before!

That thread conclution was it was a different VW model not the Golf it was a model that does not have the boot handle/badge combo.

It always pops out and appears on screen regardless of whether the stereo is on or not.

I had the blue screen once but it was caused by ice obviously haven frozen the rear badge closed.

Dont know if its a fault or if its the way im using it, but I switch the car engine off to go in the house then when I go back out in the car and turn on the heating both dual temps are at LO. I didnt leave them at LO when I left the car, but then at other times when I get in the car they are at HIGH. Weird.
