BUT.......

Also check this link mentioned in the ebay link for the pics....

Any comments plz
Will this splitter be crap??
-
We just fitted a VR6 splitter off eBay to Shady P motor. It is a perfect fit, even on the sides and middle. It looks like it can take a beating, quite flexible like my old genuine splitter.
He bought it from a company on eBay called "GoingFast"(?).
-
Right ok.... BUT...
The one from going fast is made from High Quality ABS Plastic. (Abs is a stiff material, which will brake easily/crack)
The one on the link i have given is showing that this is very flexible, hense this must be made of polypropylene plastic.....
What are the genuine original ones made from???
-
See where it says "1 Sold" .. Well that was me
My car is proper low and will be even lower on the BBS's, so it will take a battering for sure.
I'll report back when it's broken
-

Thought you had 3 spare ones??? you were collecting them?? lol.
Are you gunna resell them on here as genuine ones for £40.... U tight f**k
Joe - Let me know how good the quality is, They must be good, if you can bend them as much as they are doing in the picture without damaging it.
-
It's hit and miss for these deep chin splitters :-/
The genuine items are made from polypropylene plastic like you said, im sure of it.
The one in the link is quite cheap, I wouldn't know if it's any good. I had a cheap one from eBay a while back, was in a JOM packaging, didn't fit well at all and kept popping off but was flexible.
See where it says "1 Sold" .. Well that was me

Hang on what about your US splitter?!!?!
-
Well one of my VR splitters found its way onto my dads car (thanks dad ). VR splitter number 2 is rather battered from where it was on my car. VR splitter number 3 is hiding somewhere but is scuffed. I want a decent condition one for shows and meets :)
Adam, you'll soon see what's happening with the US one :lipsrsealed:
-
I've heard that ebay ones are crap thats why i asked on this one, never seen this one on there before...
Ohh and Joe....... you should have bought it directly off the website... its free delivery lol.
you could have saved yourself afew quid
-
Joe - PM me with the quality and how good it fits.... Also if its the same quality as the genuine ones.
-
I will once it arrives lol, I only bought it earlier
Wish I'd noticed the free delivery if you buy direct from their site. That would have left me enough money in paypal to buy my new top mounts, now I've gotta pay more money in
-
LOL
If only i posted this earlier haha. I seen it this morning aswell haha.
Joe - Dont forget to PM me!!!! :afro:
-
As Adam said I just bought one off eBay, from GoingFast. Seems to be good quality and in all fairness my last one was a cheap eBay one abd that lasted a year taking a hell of a beating. Hopefully this one will hold out, if not I'll stick my old GTi one back on.
-
but the gti ones look bluddy crap :afro:
thats why i want a deep chin one
-
How do you go about changing them? Is it an easy job?
-
but the gti ones look bluddy crap :afro:
thats why i want a deep chin one
I prefer the GTI ones, but you've got to be running low to pull it off.. like my old car

-
i bought one from euro car parts last weekend, £25 dnt know about the quality as i havent fitted it yet
-
There a direct replancement i think... afew screws and there on.... Jack up your car and rest it on axle stands and get it swapped over.
:afro:
-
Got one from Eurowagens (ebay seller).
Fitted pretty good, although not perfectly joined in the middle.
-
Had 3 ebay ones, one broke when it hot a low curb, the other 2 would not stay clipped on.
-

Have i corrected you wayne :afro:
-
I bought an ebay one which came in JOM packaging. Lasted about a week before the side of it shattered to pieces from decking out. Fitted really badly on the sides and didn't join properly in the middle, but only was a tenner, now I want a proper one. Back to the GTI style one now, but doesn't look as good
-
Low curb 1 cheap splitter 0

-
ohh and how colour faded has that gone wayne.
-
ohh and how colour faded has that gone wayne.
Not too bad, photo make it look worse.
-
That one you have was obviously made with ABS. as this material will brake, crack very easily coming into contact with anything.
Polypropylene is the material a VR6 splitter should be (as is on standard)
Polyprop will flex and should not brake/crack like your had. it will mark/bend it but not brake it.
-
Given the choice I would never use a cheap one again.
-
Exactly why i'm waiting for feedback on cheap ones before i buy :afro:
-
That's exactly what happened on mine, both sides
-
My new cheap one is still alive. :)
-

:afro:
no screws. . . just clip out, clip in. no need to jack it up either.
i'm on my 3rd spitter now since having it lowered a few weeks ago... all shattered/ snapped!
want one from the main dealer but said dont do them anymore!!

yeah i read that. . but two trips to my local VW and a phone call and nope. . nothing. . only about a week ago too
-
Drew I'll go check in VW Yeovil tomorrow for you pal. :afro:
-
The splitters are sometimes bolted on.. there's 4 7mm bolts, 2 either side, holding the wheel arch liners to the underneath of the splitter
-
Drew I'll go check in VW Yeovil tomorrow for you pal. :afro:
Cheers matey!
i'm already upto £60 odd in fake ones and in need of my 4th!!
-
I've got 3 genuine ones, one was given to me, one was swapped for some standard front indicators, and the other one was bought for a fiver from the local scrappy
-

Yes, as you keep saying Joe. How about instead of bragging about having 3 constantly, sell them or use them.

My dad is using one on his VR, the other one will be going back on my car within the next week, and my spare one will be just that, spare

ill try get more info from my dealer mate, they ar eno longer made by VAG, but under license and have to be oredered from Germany, now either this has stopped (i doubt it) or some dealers cant be arsed with the hassle
-
or some dealers cant be arsed with the hassle
hit nail on the head there.... some cant be bothered but i have a trade account with a south yorkshire group who are spot on. But when I asked he couldn't find any info on deep spoilers and asked for a part number (the original one wasn't recognised either!)
-
Found this on edition:
http://www.eurowagens.com/en/vw/golf-3-vento/body-parts/vr6-deep-front-spoiler-vw-golf-mk3.html (http://www.eurowagens.com/en/vw/golf-3-vento/body-parts/vr6-deep-front-spoiler-vw-golf-mk3.html)
It says:Manufactured by VW OE supplier. Made of flexible plastic so it will last for years.
And just look at the pics!

-
haha
Joe did you get yours delivered today??
I need info on how good these are before i purchase one :afro:
-
I will just say, the one I bought from eBay (cheap jobbie) hasn't actually popped out yet, unlike my last one which did and had to be screwed in. Not damaged or broken yet and went over a significantly large speed bump yesterday. Heard it scrape but still intact.
-
I can see yours not lasting
By any chance is yours made of polypropylene?? or ABS???
You'll find ABS material to be really tough/brittle
and Polypropylene to be tough/flexible. Hense why these lower bumper splitters are much better made from this material for obvious reasons.
-
I wouldn't be surprised. Give it 5 days and I'll be on here moaning about it lol! It's ABS I believe. :)
-
Only bought mine a couple of days ago, give them a chance to send it lmao
Earlier on in this thread 'Zdebx' said he bought one and it fits well apart from the gap in the middle
-
Needed one of these also and have bought one from eurowagons.com as per 1st thread, looks good so hope
it will fit ok, for £20 im not too bothered as long as its somewhere near.
Anything has to be better than the half spoiler i have on at the minute.
Will update when its fitted.

Ahh yeah.... hmmm... I'll pm him to get sum pics up then
-
This was the cheap one that I had, no gap and fitted well, the other 2 I had were very poor.

Drew, if you want a genuine one you're gonna be looking at around £100. Both sides are £35 each excluding VAT, but the right hand side isn't available so has to be ordered and couriered from Germany which will cost a bit. They are available though so :)
-
how much!!!
thanks for that shady and taking your time out to check! (love the mk3 section)
gonna order one from europarts place or what ever its called as in the pictures they look very felexible! couldn't of done that with the ones i've had so far. got rubber to buy and adapters for my D90's so £100 on a splitter will have to wait.
-
No worries Drew, glad to help. :afro:
It is a lot but if you were going for an all genuine MK3 it would be a must. Hopefully that linked one will be just as good though. :)
-
thanks again. . .
just ordered one so hopefully does the trick!
-
bluddy hell, this was only supposed to be a quick thread on wether someone has tried one of the (links) vr6 splitters.... Its gettin huge this thread haha.
£100 for a splitter is crazy money.
£20 for a decent enough good quality one is perfect :afro:
-
Not really chris. . . i'm up to £86 now on splitters! and if this one comes and cracks like an egg i'll have to get another!!
-
lol
You'll have to be more careful and stop driving into speedbumps at speed and hittin kerbs front first :afro:
-
lol
You'll have to be more careful and stop driving into speedbumps at speed and hittin kerbs front first :afro:
its the kerbs!! they come and sneak up on you and take your poor splitter by suprise!
hopefully this one does the trick so get one ordered mate!
-
I will do when i've had good reviews on them. :afro:
I'm waiting on Zdeb and Joe......
I'll be waiting forever i think ....

£20 odd cant go wrong. . like you say.. .be careful where ya go! (hit)
order one!
-
I got a message from the guy selling these. He said to use the main website to order as it is cheaper as i earlier stated in this thread, I also asked about the quality of it and wether its the same as the original material....
His reply was...
Hi,
They are made frome the same plastic as oe spoilers.
I do have lot of customes saying that its "the best one they have ever bought".
Youll see its good quality.
Thanks
That to me seems good enough :afro:
Will be ordering mine aswell
-
Ordered mine :afro:
-
Mine's just gunna be for show use, or I might raise the coilies up
-
Are they easy to fit?? gunna fit mine soon as i get it :afro:
-
You so did not just ask that........
-
You so did not just ask that........
He so did...
-
Unless your car is lowered 120mm and you're scared of ripping your splitter off, it's a simple clip on job.
If I wanna change my splitter, I have to take the whole bumper off, because my splitters are always screwed on.
-
coolio
-
Well pissed off with this seller.
When I bought my splitter, there was no mention of a 'holiday', I checked ebay today to see if it had been dispatched, and they've now decided they're away until the 8th of March!!
Now I'm hoping they sent my splitter out before they went on their silly little holiday, but if they didn't, and I haven't recieved it by the end of the week, I'm going to be pretty annoyed!
-
 As above, no mention of a holiday but got an email yesterday, they are in germany
and not back till 8th march, looks like we wont be seeing the spoilers till back end of next week.
Well pi@@ed off.
-
Ohhh great.
I bought mine directly off the site. So hopefully mine will come this week... I HOPE
-
Oh no a whole week
-
had same email. . . and if you got that i'd say next tues maybe weds before you get your hands on it.
-
Oh no a whole week
Just what I was thinking.
-
there's a massive group buy on this over at edition38 and they're going for like £13 each i think.
-
now you tell us lol
-
Edition 38 suck donkey dick.
-

 :afro:
-
lol check it out if you're on there but i think its exceeded 50 or so!
Edition 38 suck donkey dick
its not that bad but i havn't been a member for long

I sold some Hella quads on there, which had brand spanking new covers and casings, and were pretty much mint. I wrapped them up in sh!t loads of bubble wrap and sent them off to him. 14 days after recieving them he decided to tell me they had arrived broken, and accused me of using superglue to fix them in the past (which was quite funny because I don't have any glue in the house!). He had a moan off about it to one of the admin on the forum, and I got slapped with a 'Rogue Trader' tag under my name, before they'd even heard my side of the story! Bunch of barclay bankers me thinks. People are more honest on this forum and to this day I've not had a single problem.
-
think twice about dealing with you joe.
Super glue kid. :afro:
-
ed 38 has been ok to me tbh, i find theirs alot more keyboard widgey waving on here. in fact its terrible on here at times, some people i know wont come on here no more because of it, and i know what they mean totally
club GTI is by far the best place for technical help
-
Just noticed this thread ... I ordered a front lip off http://www.eurowagens.com/en/vw/golf-3-vento/body-parts/vr6-deep-front-spoiler-vw-golf-mk3.html
However, by the looks of my paypal account the seller hasnt even accepted the payment yet ??
-
Had email from eurowagens.com new stock of the splitters in 5 weeks
-
As long as they've bloody sent mine I don't give a toss!!!!!!
-
Ah fa fak sakes.
So what, a 5 week wait then??? Their blatently ordering these from poland ... i dont see how they can be selling proper flexible splitters for twenty quid a piece ...
-
Ordered mine over a week ago. If it's not here by the weekend I'm asking for a refund and I'll take my business elsewhere
-
Had a phone call from eurowagons....
They only recieved the left side of the splitter - hense why they have not sent out/or took payment yet... I asked when they are likely to be delivered then dispatched to us as a set..... He said they are due in this Friday and dispatch to us will be on Monday.
Apparently these have been a big success and gettin hold of them again fast was a struggle.
Soo looks like its next tuesday/wednesday before we get them.
Ohh and JOE stop bluddy moaning will ya.
-
Sounds good to me.
-
I think I have every right to moan though dude..
He listed them on ebay, so I bought one immediately and paid for it immediately (which was on Friday 26th of February).
Somebody on this forum bought one on Monday 1st of March, and recieved it on Thursday 4th of March.
So where the f**k is mine?
If he doesn't have any in stock then he shouldn't list them on ebay!
Would be like me saying I've got a batch of 10 brand new Anniversary gearknobs for sale, and selling all 10 of them, when I haven't even recieved them from Germany yet.
-
lmao
I know i'm pissed off aswell... and i was jokin bout u moanin u fool
:afro:
-
I ordered mine a week today as they said in stock on the website,
not holiday thing so I odered! Would of gone elsewhere as my smashed
up one ain't giving my car a good look!!
-
I'm pissed off about this big time. I ordered mine a couple of weeks back now and still no sign of it, but no info as to why. And seems odd that someone ordered there's after and got it before.
-
Got an email from the director here it is:

So lets hope everyone receives theirs by the end of the week ... either way, it must be worth waiting for as long as its durable and doesnt break like the ABS crap on ebay ... if thats the case then im happy waiting.
-
i ordered mine on a sunday last week and it had come by the thursday fitted by lunch time...
-
i ordered mine on a sunday last week and it had come by the thursday fitted by lunch time...
Was it as described? flexible plastic that you can bend as shown in the pictures??? and does it just clip on or have you got to do a DIY jobbie and 'make it' fit?
-
lol
You'll have to be more careful and stop driving into speedbumps at speed and hittin kerbs front first :afro:

Mine says its dispatched now aswell
-
Mine was sent yesterday 2nd class recorded delivery so i'll get mine tomorrow or friday... got a phone call from the guy this afternoon :afro:
-
Didn't think you could send things 2nd class AND recorded
-
apparently you can lol... well he has and i should get mine tmoro or friday. they were sent wednesday.
-
Didn't think you could send things 2nd class AND recorded
Yep, always send items I have sold 2nd class recorded unless the buyer pays the extra for 1st class.
-
Oh I see
I've sold my splitter and it hasn't even arrived yet!
£30
-
lol
greedy git :afro:
-
Got mine today! I think the picture of them bending the splitter is exaggerated, feels slightly stronger than the cheapo ebay ones tho, so I dunno only time will tell how good it really is.
Basically, nothing will ever beat the £70-£80 ORIGINAL SPLITTER from VW
-
I'm still deciding weather or not i should get one of these...i think i'll wait for the reviews!
-
Coincidentally I just turned the laptop on to say I've recieved mine.
You say nothing will ever beat the genuine one, but have you actually owned one??
This seriously does come close. It's pretty good quality, it's actually black (not grey), and feels as strong as a genuine one..
I'm impressed with it and may put it on my car for an hour or so to see how it lasts. If it doesn't break on my car it should be fine on everyone elses car (cus you're all at standard ride height.. although saying that you're all blind b*stards and keep kitting kerbs )
-
Im lowered 60mil, and hit most speed bumps so have to take it in a certain angle ... and your right, its actually solid I went out and fitted it, every clip slots in (took a while to get it in) and I had to stress the splitter to remove it at one point, thinking it would snap but it didn't!! so I take back my comment, for £20 this is the BEST of the BEST.
-
I don't understand people who go over speedbumps at an angle???
I'm down 120mm and just hit them head on
-
Well my sump scrapes like a son of a b!tch, the splitter might clear the bump, but going in a angle helps the bottom of the sump or the middle exhaust clear it ...
-
Which type of speed bumps are you referring to?
I have a funny feeling you're talking about the stupid little square ones in the middle of the road? Rather than the ones that go the whole way across the road
The ones that go the whole way across the road are ok, my splitter scrapes and nothing else.
The little square ones, whole different story, can't go over at an angle or straight over them! Splitter, downpipe, probably the subframe, the whole exhaust lol, probably the rear axle too
-
I'm 70mm front and 60mm back i do get a scrapes going over most speed bumps, so i'd hate to be in your car Joe!
-
Turns heads lol thats all that matters to me
-
Ha just logged on to say mines come too! Everyone in the office has been looking t me weird as I've been bending this massive bit of plastic in half lol. Seems much better than the last one I had. Also I'm down 60 mil and scrape as i go over the work speed bump, bastard thing! And those square ones ! I hit one in the dark I didn't see and I thought that was the end of my engine!
-
can i see detailed pics of it on car and close ups
be interesting to see how these fair up
-
Fatherless son thing?!?! Gotta love iPhones automatic respelling. Not.

-
Mine came!
Seems to be much better than the ebay ones I've had in the past!
Very bendy!!
-
Best be worth the wait, not got mine yet and paid on the 01/03/10, maybe later today or tomorrow then.

Looks fooking good! Maybe I will keep mine, for special occassions!
Don't like the sides though! They sit flat, whereas mine sorta flare outwards?
Can see in this pic what I mean..

Don't know if Kells' is the same, or whether mine's bent outwards like that over time?
-
heh got mine today aswelll as promised.
Does look ok but if you look carefully (I'm been abit picky here lol) where the filling gates are... there are 2 weld-lines in the plastic, this is caused by a badly designed tool, I hope this weldline can be buffed out... apart from that they look ok. gunna fit mine at work sometime.....
Thats if i figure out how the heck the old splitter comes off.... I've tried pulling it and it wont budge lol... I dont wanna brake off the lugs/clips either

you lost me on the first bit!.....
as for getting old one off it wont just pull off, you have to push the clips up then pull!
my old gti one was a right pain! had to get my head under there and push clips out with a flathead
screwdriver! some there might also be some bolts but never had them on mine.
-
lol right - cheers drew.
and about them weld lines lol..... look closely at the splitter... you will find 1 (dull straight line about 6cm long) on each side of the splitter.... this is a weldline (where 2 filling gates are used to put the plastic into the mould to make the splitter) Make sense??....
Anyway when the plastic from the 2 gates meet it causes a weldline... Obvioulsy the quality control where it was made has let this go, but VW wouldnt. and to rectify the problem more heat in the tool and a faster flow of plastic (or tool redesign) will sort it.
I am a plastic moulding technician.... :afro:
But apart from my pickyness..... they look good :afro:
-
Ah I'm really glad eveyones saying the sides are fitting ok. That last one I had I had to run screws through it and when it smashed it tore off the splash guards they were connected to.
-
So the verdict is that it's a good buy? If so i'll invest in one!

£15 delivered from where?
-
look on last page of the link
here is what i have copied and pasted from it
VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
I have just received a phone call from Shawn and there is a couple of message he would like me to pass on
1 - THE GROUP BUY IS CLOSED
unfortunately if you hadn't shown interested by posting and your name wasn't already on the group buy by MIDNIGHT THIS FRIDAY 5.3.10 then sorry but instructions from eurowagens are that you have to pay full price via there website/ebay.
so Shawn has said if you please not email him asking him about it
2 - HE WILL NO LONGER BE OPERATING HIS STAND AT UD AND COLLECTION CAN NOT BE MADE THERE
Again unfortunately as mentioned in some previous posts he has had trouble with his work van and he could not use it to collect his shipment from Europe. He has had to rely on courier companies to have his bits sent over and they have now told him the delivery (splitters along with his other stock) will not arrive until monday or tuesday.
He has said to be that he has made every effort to try to have them delivered in time inc offering the couriers more money - but no success
He apologises and even though he will be at ultimate dubs as part of the public he wont be operating his trade stand there (even though he has paid about £X00's for it)
3 - once his delivery has arrived HE WILL SHIP OUT ALL PAID FOR SPLITTERS ON WEDNESDAY 17-3-10
4 - for those of you on the LIST TO COLLECT AT UD, if you no longer want to be part of the group buy, but if you do still want to take part of the group buy then can you please make payment via paypal to have them posted
you need to pay by paypal to this address: EUROWAGENS@EUROWAGENS.COM
the price of each splitter is still £11.75 but you also need to pay for delivery charges
delivery of a single splitter is £3.45
delivery of upto 10 splitters is £5.50
EXAMPLE:
1 X SINGLE SPLITTER POSTED = £11.75 + £3.45
= £15.20
2 X SPLIITTERS POSTED = £11.75 + £11.75 + £5.50
= £29
3 x SPLITTERS POSTED = £11.75 + 11.75 + 11.75 + 5.50
= £41.05

wish i'd av known that i'd av saved a fiver :afro:
-
ahhh so it was Edition members that caused the long delivery times by nabbing all the stock aye?
-
yep... luckily he found some more in another warehouse and that is why we have ours delivered today. Otherwise it would have been next week at the earliest.

Just fitted mine. Straight in at the sides, no popping out at all. Was quite tight to get the front in and some of the lugs / clips still had moulding bits on them so needed to be trimmed. Gaps ok, coupla mill big. Pretty good for the price
-
I agree.... the middle part (where the 2 join) was quite hard to clip in properly... you had to give it a really good push to get the clips in properly then the gap was very minimal.
What you said about the 'moulding bits still on them' - Correct this called 'Flash' which is caused by tool damage when moulding the splitters. I trimmed the excess flash off mine aswell so a perfect fit.
Overall.... Very happy and a good buy.

do you make fake b(.)(.)b's
think ill hold out and try get a new genuine one...
-
Honestly kells mate, these are a fantastic fit and the plastic looks exactly like the rest of the plastic bits on the car.
They are in polypropylene with a CM Additive which helps with flexibility. I'd say 99% as good as a genuine one. it fits perfect with hardly any gap in the middle.
Its gotta be well worth 15quid. although i payed 20 for mine but am happy with it.
do you make fake b(.)(.)b's
I WISH :afro:
-
People need to stay clear of the ABS ones!!
There the problem ones and fade in colour and crack easily aswell as dont fit correctly.
-
i hear you, £15 or £20 is good price must admit
-
got sum pics uploading shortly so you can have a look... I'll put it in a new thread coz this ones massive

Well ive just had a refund from one of the crappy ones I originally ordered off ebay ... so ive just sent those funds straight to wagenworks for a 2nd replacement i'll leave this one in the garage till my current wagenworkz one breaks. Worst comes to worst and I never use it, im sure its worth much more than the £15 I paid, I can easily fool someone in to parting with atleast £50 locally because its a very good replica.

Really strong! I smashed a pheasant earlier at about 45 / 50 and no marks on it. And I had the amusement of when I looked out the back window there were feathers slowly dispersing. I pretended they were coming out the exhaust and not nasty gases and fumes.
-
should have took it home and had it for sunday lunch?
-
Looks good! Like my old gen one.
P.S
should have took it home and had it for sunday lunch?
Old law says it is illegal for you to pick it up but whoever is behind you can. :D
-

may even buy another one incase mine cracks. worth 15quid easily.
-
Ah yeah pheasants alright, was so amused by the feathers though that I forgot about that lol
