and with petrol prices coming down 40% I think I'm laughing
I'll believe that when I see it. Read in the paper on Saturday that supermarkets where dropping it to 99.9p but the massive tesco down the road from me is stil 106.9 :( along with everyone station in my area.

My local has been at 99.9 since last Thursday.. With me getting a nice average of 27mpg since calming down a little I think Im doing quite well.

As for when my car lease expires late next year, I will be in the market for a new car with no car to part ex. Sounds like it will be a perfect time to buy if things keep going the way they are

in Britain car sales are falling.
In Switzerland they are rising, so no "steal of the century" here

Really?? you might want to pop over here and take back some of those imports which have flooded the market!!

could you imagine being stuck with a high end mazda or civic right now? D'Oh!

Nope.  I'd rather brake my back and chew my own testicles before owning a mazda or honda.

Also, we all know the expression "there is no replacement for displacement" as it was coined by Mr. Oettinger in fact, way back when...
Still valid today though.

Is 4.2 litres of V8 growl enough!

Pointless but just goes to show and shockingly worrying how much our cars are losing their what was" good Residuals".

But think how much more you would lose with a Ford Asbo, Astra VXR, - or dread to think on some french or jap stuff.

But your R32 runs on the agricultural poverty spec normal unleaded.  Us GTI chaps, and chapesses need a much more refined brew!

Actually, log onto www.PetrolPrices.com and create your own account - because Sainsburys SuperUnleaded is now 102.9, and Tesco 99 is 104.9 - another week or two and Super will below a quid.

With me getting a nice average of 27mpg since calming down a little I think Im doing quite well.

Strewth, I can do much better than that in my mighty RS4 !!!

£15999 for a GTi, rather save 2 more grand for a Edition 30  being that ive had both.

Bargain car for 16k a GTi, say that this time last year, you'd think " what planets he on"

but that wouldnt be a brand new ed30??!!?  and that coming from you can only really make me laugh,         after all, this time last year the ed30 was a waste of space??. was it not??

I am with you. I remember PM saying how meaningless E30 was. Not he in earnest protects its honor.  If he'd only get it remapped, then we'd have another convert in 300hp club.
why would i want to Peskarik when youve just admitted the cars Not Drivable in 1st and 2nd Gears?????

Trust me a 300 + bhp ED30 is a lot more fun than a 237 bhp one
Been in a Blufin one recently at JKM, and the only i liked was the milltek sound T88OMM  .

And performance, well going against another Bluefin ed30 manual at Speed, side by side untill around 80mph, it wasnt really enough to make my draw drop, as i was only loosing 10 yards over 500 yards stretch beyond that. Isnt really exactly Blitzing a standard car nor making it "much more Fun" as you put it  T88OMM

From what I hear the Bluefin is a relatively tame map (correct me if im wrong). The difference between my car now and when it was standard is night and day. I have had other performance modifications i.e. Milltek and fuel pump, that add power on top of the remap. My car is probably in excess of 315 BHP and it is an absolute hoot to drive. Im not trying to prove anything at all here Phil I am just trying to express my point of view. You have probably got a few years on me so maybe when I get to your age I may think differently

Yes when you have 2 babys to think about, prioritys change somewhat. Oh to be 22 and Family free, then maybe a 400hp GTi Ed30 would wee all over everyone elses GTi's   Then ill race ya!!

What did Clarkson call Audi drivers?

You would be much better buying a £16,000 GTI AND a really nice motorhome for the cost of an expensive A4.

It is actually reasonably easy to get an average of around 32mpg from my RS4, whereas with my last S4 (same engine capacity, but less ponies and no FSI) I really struggled to get 27mpg.  What really helps, appart from the FSI, is the fact that the large 4.2 litre displacement provides absolutely masses of torque from nigh-on tickover (90% of the total 430Nm is available from 2250rpm).  If I just left it in sixth gear, it can trundle along at 20mph (without any driveline shudder), and go all the way upto 170mph - how many diesels can do that?

If you read my sig though, you will see how low I can get my RS4 - last year in Germany, on a long high speed run with a few v-maxes, I emptied the 63 litre tank in just 110 miles!
