With me getting a nice average of 27mpg since calming down a little I think Im doing quite well.

Strewth, I can do much better than that in my mighty RS4 !!!

I can get 30.. but where is the fun in that??

Don't you like to appreciate the silky smooth feel of your lovely VR6 engine at low revs?  That is one of the really interesting things about your engine - at tick-over, it is so smooth and quiet, you don't actually realise that the engine is running.  Then keeping it below about 2-2½k revs, still nice, tame, quiet and refined - yet open her up, and at the upper ends of the rev-range, turns into a bit of a beast!

And I'll stick my neck on the line again - the VR6 engine is considerably more refined than the BMW straight six engines.  That comment will probably pi$$ off a few Bavaria fans.

I should upgrade to an RS4 but being young will probably get mistaken for an over paid banker... :embarassed:

I though you said something else then!   Anyway, what is wrong with a bit of personal self stimulation?    My taxi has arrived . . .

Must say the low down torque is a wonderful thing.. esp when I have my parents in the car, 6th gear at 25mph no problem.

Dont know about anyone else but the number of times I have tried to change up without realising im already in 6th.  Good to have lots power available at any time

could you imagine being stuck with a high end mazda or civic right now? D'Oh!

Nope.  I'd rather brake my back and chew my own testicles before owning a mazda or honda.

What did Clarkson call Audi drivers?

You would be much better buying a £16,000 GTI AND a really nice motorhome for the cost of an expensive A4.

You really are a tw@t, arn't you?  Don't you know that it is actually Audi who develop many of the components and technologies which then get used by Volkswagen (along with Å koda and Seat).  If it wern't for Audi, VW would not have FSI or curtain airbags, which we have in our current GTIs, nor would any VWs have four wheel drive.  If it wern't for Audi, the upcoming Mk6 GTI and the new Rocco would not have the chain driven cam technology, nor variable exhaust valve timing, nor adaptive suspension.  Audi are a serious partner in the Volkswagen Group stable, and for anyone to "blanket" dis Audi is seriously deluded.

And on to your second comment, how the fcuk would either of your suggestions manage 170mph on the German A-bahns, or whip the ar$es of most other "sports cars" on the road, such as most Porsches (or "wannabes" such as MX5s, RX8s, MGTFs, Honda S2000s) - whilst on the same trip being able to carry five people in extreme comfort and safety, and all their luggage in that massive boot?

Yes, a GTI may be able to do some of those things, even in standard form.  But compared to any Audi A4, the boot on the Golf is noticeably smaller (so I'd be severly limited on the amount of wine to bring home ).  To get a standard GTI (and not an Ed30) to reach 170mph in a reliable and refined manner would take some seriously expensive and major modifications - and you still would not have that glorious V8 soundtrack.

At 170 mph you would get about 6 mpg.
You would be better off buying the wine at Oddbins.

I do agree with Clarkson, as your last rant proves.

Erm - try reading my sig.  Just incase you have difficulties, at v-max, I get 9.8mph . . .

Mods/Admins - any chance of pressing that "ban" button, yet again for this tool?

He's never been banned, just had duplicate accounts deleted. I tend to ignore trolls so generally just skip past his posts in a thread. When people do the same he occasionally; when his ego allows it, posts something of worth.
