Will try and get some more paint on and possibly lacquer but had some bad news about my grandad today so need to go and see him this week

I managed to get myself up to R-Tech last weekend to have a few tweaks and see what power I was producing... and as usual, it didn't quite go to plan

After a few road runs and a lot of logging, Nick pronounced my MAF dead. It's not dangerous thankfully as it has failed but in a good way (if there is one) It is actually over reading the air going in so is shutting down the boost so a new one is needed. VW want £90 odd for one but I have managed to track down a genuine Bosch item for £56 + VAT which is more like what I want to pay. I have also bought a 4bar FPR for £14 to give the fuel a bit more scope.

Also another problem which could have been me or the delivery service is a bent actuator bracket which has affected the boost from day one really. I'm looking at getting a Forge actuator which can have different springs fitted to suit the state of tune of the engine. Only trouble with them is apparently the turbo has to be dropped slightly to gain access to one of the bolts but I'll see if I can get round it

I also wanted my filter to be relocated to the bumper again so I've found a Carbonio pipe and a Piper X cone filter to go on the end...

and fitted today

My new MAF is also fitted and giving a better drive already, just the actuator to get now and I should have it working 100% at last.

Wheels are still ongoing but I've had an epic fail on one of them, down to me not putting enough paint on the edges of the rims so while polishing them I went through to the primer again which is a bit of a p!sser. So now I'm thinking of sanding the insides down and painting them black. I've only wasted a bit of my own time as well as one can of paint so not a massive problem, it's a learning curve for me anyways

More as it happens

A little update on some bits I've been sorting out

Got hold of a new breather pipe for the block, I noticed mine had started to fall apart when I fitted the catch can. This is a revised version, it now has a metal liner inside which I presume is to stop it crushing so badly

Next up I have finished modifying my brakes lines, they now fit through the brackets on the car

and I also have a set of custom made rear brake lines as the ones that come in the sets are only intermediate replacements

Just got to source some new banjo bolts for them now

I've also had my actuator arrive, it's been fitted with a stronger spring as instructed by Nick, I've just got the fun task of fitting it now.

I should have one of my wheels finished over the weekend so I'll chuck a pic up of it too

More updates when I get some bits fitted

Not had much time to do anything on the car recently due to sorting the house out but I did manage to fit the Anniversary foils the other day

before

after

Just ordered an aluminium bezel to fit on the boost gauge as well to tie it in with the other clocks

Should hopefully get it booked in to get the brake lines done on my week off too. Also need to get my arse in gear and sort the wheels out

my aluminium bezel arrived today for the boost gauge, fitted it before heading off to the beach

also just given the inside of the wheel I'm working on a couple of coats of black. Not too fussed how this bit comes out as it will be hidden most of the time

Will pop back out there in a mo and do the front face. Should have it completely finished later

A wheel is finally done. There were a few bits of overspray that had made its way under the tape so that had to be flatted back so that was done earlier. There are a few bits that I'm not happy with but I'm not mucking about any more

Pics for your perusal

now I just need to get the others sorted lol

Also I fitted the window blinds I got off Rhys, will get some pics of them 2moro.

A very quick reply as I haven't updated for a long time...

I've finally had the braided lines fitted, owned 4 of them for about 3 years now so thought I'd better get them on...

Also got some bolt covers for when I finally get the wheels on

and speaking of the wheels, one is sanded down ready to paint when I have some spare time

wheel has now been painted, had some bad reaction with the lacquer on a couple of parts due to the cold weather so they required some more paint

Picking it up 2moro so I should have an idea of how well it went once the masking tape comes off.

I've also fitted my Forge actuator. Feels like a totally different car now, no lag and bags of boost. No pics of this I'm afraid as it didn't go exactly to plan  :lipsrsealed:

Anyways I'll be pushing to get the wheels done before the new year so keep looking back
