right I've had a half productive day...

rear spacers made it on then back off as the standard bolts are too long for the threads so some modification is needed...

So I turned my attention to the front and fitted the 5mm spacers and the THS PCR pipe

from this

to this

no pics of the spacers but they aren't that brilliant to look at

I'll sort the bolts out at work and get the spacers on ASAP, the back end looked spot on with the wheels sat on the hub

Not done a great deal recently as I've been working on friends cars, but I've swapped my Forge 007 for a piston version... Also ordered some wind deflectors which should be here in a few days and some poly top mounts

Oh and a set of Bilstein B4 Sport shocks

The plan is to keep my JOM springs and use them with the Bilsteins... Will report back when they are done

I've finished one of my wheels, sanded all the old machining marks and any damage out, and taken them up to 500. This one is my test wheel so assuming the lacquering comes out ok the others will be done the same as this one, albeit quicker.

I bought a set of Bilstein Sports shocks as I'm fed up with keep replacing the rear shocks on my JOM kit, just cos they can't get them to survive more than a couple of months. I'll be keeping my lowered springs so that's something.

I've also got myself a set of poly top mount bushes for the suspension. These should last a bit longer than standard rubber as I've noticed mine have started to crack already and they are only about a year old. They also lower the front end by another 10mm which is good as I've never been happy with the drop on the Golf, I think it's an optical illusion as the arches are different heights.

The shocks and top mounts will be fitted on Weds as I'm driving down to Weymouth on Sat. I think the constant squeaking from the current rear shocks would destroy me...

Quick update...

My Heko wind deflectors are on the car, not to everyone's tastes but I like them and they do the job

A proper pic of the back end with the Hella Black Magic's fitted

and I decided to clean up the engine bay too

I've decided to spray my Monzas as near to the same colour as my wheels now, got all the primer ready, just need to sand them down.

I've got to pick up my adjustable drop links on Friday and I'll be fitting them along with a new set of ARB bushes and clamps, will keep you all posted

been busy today and got the drop links and new ARB bushes and clamps fitted...

ARB bushes were a little bit fooked

Also had my tyres fitted, they are on but no valve or balancing yet as I want to get them painted before they get popped on

I've gone in a different direction with the finish now, the insides will be black and the spokes in roughly the same colour as my wheels now but with a black base coat to make them look a bit darker. I've ordered the paint and should be picking it up 2moro

I want the wheels ready for Inters so I have 4 weeks to get myself in gear!

A couple of random photos of how it looks at the mo

More as it happens

a quick update on the progress of the wheels

sanded them down with 180 grit on a palm sander

then masked up and a coat of etch prime

then a quick rub down with 500 and a coat of high build

got the other wheel to the etch prime stage, will be rubbing the high build down on Friday and giving it a final prime and maybe a first coat of colour

will update with any more progress in the evening

I found a small dent in the edge of one of the wheels so I sorted it with some chemical metal this morning

you can just about see it under the etch prime (told you it was small)

both front wheels are up to the same stage now and will have the first top coat going on Monday

Also my aero wiper arms/blades have turned up (big thanks to Jordy) so they will be fitted this afternoon, might also fit the new rocker cover gasket

Had a little poke about today under my cam cover as I noticed a bit of an oil leak when I was changing my turbo over. I was greeting with a puddle of oil in the spark plug chambers too so the gasket was past its best.

So it was cam cover off and I soon found that the gasket had been leaking from the back of the engine. Makes sense as the turbo gives off a lot of heat

then I found the other gasket that seals the plug chambers had also been leaking, leaving oil on the plugs and coil pack ends

so I pulled the plugs out and gave everything a good clean up then fitted the new gaskets

got it all back together and started it up, a small bit of smoke where the oil burnt off but all seems good

Also fitted my aero wipers, not the greatest shot as my battery went on my phone
