Catalytic coverter faulty!!! ed30
« on: 23 April 2008, 19:49 »
Just had car back from stealers today to have software installed plus look at why the car feels like its gonna stall when i pull up to a stop.in other words its always in drive and the car moves twice as fast as it should using dsg. Fault has been traced to the Catalytic converter???????
Are there any sensors on that ,that may cus the car to do this????. anyone know or could shed light on why a peice of exhaust system can cause irratic running at idle or in D.

Cars only done 17k and its 1st one has packed up (warranty covered it), does an aftermarket exhaust cus premiture failure of the cat???. Cus it did have a milltech fitted prior to me buying?.

whether its been damaged from half the milltech exhaust removed off of it. I know the history of that old exhaust because the same person had it fitted to their standard GTi before the Car caught fire, and moddifed it to fit, ( i read from one of their post ages ago).
are their sensors fitted on the cat which tell the ecu?? or like you say, could be the engine cant breath properly.

I thought that your car previously had a full Milltek system fitted?

If this is so, then maybe somewhere the standard one got damaged?

There should be lambda ( oxegen sensors) fitting before and after the cat, these measure
the gases going through making sure everything is running as it should be,

Maybe the milltek damaged a sensor?

well of course i never mentioned to the dealer that the car was previously fitted with an aftermarket system. im not sure it was a full system or just cat back that was on there. all i know is that with the 24k6 software installed, the faults 10 times worse then it 1st was before she went in!!. they seem pretty confidant thats whats wrong and not the DSG box causing it to do what shes doing. im sat in drive, with my foot planted on the brake at the moment, when i let go, she'll do 5-8 mph by itself!!
