Edition 30 stock is around 245hp and standard GTi about 215hp, but only when you run them on 99 octane petrol. If you run normal 95 octane, the they both drop to 227 and 197hp.

Nice Hp!
We have 2 choices here, 95 (UNL) and 98 (Sup UNL), and I must agree, since filling up with 98 the car feels a lot more responsive. And the miles before next fill up has increased.

as neg says , I found his remapped GTI actually much more progressive than my std ED30
You wouldnt say the ED30 had bad 'lag' as such (which in all honesty it doesnt) , but its only when you jump into a std GTI  you realise it does to some extent.
Shows you how good VW made the GTI , and also how well they dealt with a bigger turbo on the ED30.

std GTI feels N/A in its seamless delivery which is a stunning acheivement
ED30 in the same way has all but no lag.

I purposefully refused remapped ED30 drives at the RR day, as I knew I'd be upset

Over 300Bhp and front wheel drive must smoke the front tyres through 1st 2nd and 3rd surely? thats a lotta power to put down. even with traction control!

Nice to have more power though. I'll try and see if I can get a good price on insurance then get the GTI chipped at around 5k miles.
Looking forward to feeling the difference, its really meant to be noticable!

I can confirm John refused a drive in a remapped ED30, I just thought he was being funny
