Leather interiors - good or bad news!!!

its all good news, just means that the cloth seats will be more rare when coming to sell 

no more likely that dealers will use that to knock the price down as that is the 1st question they always ask is whether the seats are leather.Made a huge difference to my Passat when i was getting quotes for trade in.They wanted to knock off a £1k because it only has non leather style.

When I heard the news I rang my dealer complaining.I would have had it if the upgrade was free instead of £1600.So he knocked me £1k off my 08 GTI.

Update on my Ed30 - full leather interior!

Email from the brokers:

I have just had a reply back from Pulmans and unfortunately the car has already been built with leather interior as standard due to the spec change and they are expecting it to arrive in the next few days. I’m sorry I couldn’t help further.

I'm minded to cancel the order

Quick question. Is your car a euro import or UK sourced? I’m taking delivery of an ED30 in 2-weeks and if leather is now standard, want some compensation from VWUK.

Even tho they call it ''full leather'' i think you will find it is just the part you sit/rest you'r back on that is ''real'' leather,the rest is cheap vinyl.

To clarify

The edition 30 comes with a standard cloth seat with what would be called half leather or leather bolsters. ( No upgrade)

All Gti Models and Gt models as of feb are now being built with leather, Its free. But all exsisting orders (i.e cars built before feb) will still come with cloth seats.

Well I have no idea what's going on here. I've ordered an Edition 30 and have been told it's being delivered with a full leather interior.

You've got me worried now that they've built me a standard GTI. That's no problem in itself - still a great car - but it's not what I ordered!

Ring them and ask them to clarify.

The Free leather only camE in to force for cars ordered on or after feb of 2008.( BUT ED 30 DONT)

So even if it was to have the leather ( which it cant, cause its not an option), it would of been built long before this would of been available.

Mate, i am confidant that it wont come with full leather, if it is indeed an ed 30, but to be safe ring the dealer and ask them to clarify.

They will be able to check on there internal system
