Leather interiors - good or bad news!!!
« on: 26 February 2008, 11:16 »
Hi All

Just received the below email from my brokers. I don't like it!  The brokers have asked the dealership to get in touch with VW to see if it's 'compulsory'.

Appreciate it may be others' cup of tea but I liked the half cloth / half leather interior on the Ed30.

We have just been advised by Pulmans that all outstanding Golf orders have been upgraded to include leather interior as a standard option at no extra cost and we have been asked to let everyone know of this benefit.

yeah it doesn't seem fair to take away the choice! I have never rated the VW leather, not the best quality, and the ED30 seats seem to be the perfect compromise.  The tartan look seats also give the interior more character IMO. But I guess most will see getting free leather as a big bonus! (although I'd be pissed off if I'd just had a new GTI and paid for full leather!)

I think you have to have leather now whether you like it or not. Maybe you can find a GTi owner who couldn't afford leather and do a seat swap?

Bad thing IMO. Leather belongs on wing back chairs with a pipe a slippers

Ditch the leather and bring on the Alcantara

I quite think leather is a good thing....not too sure why thou? Its looked at as a bit more of a luxury and could help with reselling in the future.

I think you are in luck. As far as I am aware the free leather is only for std GTi's and not the Ed 30 (I am probably wrong but I didn't think leather was even an option on the ED30).

I have got a std on order and the dealer confirmed to me yesterday that it is going to come with leather for free (not sure how I feel about this yet - part of me likes the easy to keep clean. bit more grown up feel of the leather but a big part of me really liked the extra character the cloth seats gave the car).

Boy am i glad i got my car when i did!
If leather was the only option available when i was looking to buy, i doubt very much whether i would have bought a GTi. Personally i dont care for all leather seats, half leather/alcantara can look pretty good but given the choice i would still go for cloth or alcantara.

Hell no!

The leather is a must when you have kids, getting stains out of cloth and alcantara is an @rse.

Hi M
I was under the impression that it was just the GTI's that now come with leather only and that the ED30 still only came with half leather. I maybe wrong thou

Just had a call from the dealers and my car is still awaiting shipping so thats 1st March out the window
