the reason im getting bad mpg figues from my 1.8 8v is because its always hanging around with the 5k limit club :D :D :D :D but only when the engine is warm...otherwise i stay below 2.5k :P

dragon6, that figure that you have posted up there, you have compelled me more now...i hate you but i love you in another way lmao :D:D

I test drove a VR6 before getting my 16v, yeah i had always wanting a VR6 and more so a Highline, but after driving realised the VR6 is front heavy in comparison to the 16v.  Yeah is sounds awsome, but i prefer the sound of my 16v screaming away.  As i have said in every 16v vs VR6 debate, try each one for yourself.  For me I loved the 16v hence why i got one, I have raced a few VR6's and were near enough matching upto above 100-110 then the VR started to pull away.  People might say the VR is better spec'd, true if you get a highline model, but late 16v (R plates) usually came with the air-con heated leather seats etc.  The 16v is a lot cheaper to run, service, petrol not 100% about insurance.

I was 5 minutes from buying a vr6 and then my insurance decided it needed at cat 1 alarm fitting!! with the 16v they only wanted a cat2..the price was exactly the same (but the vr needed an extra £300-350 spending for an alarm!!)

I like the lazy manor of the Vr engine plus the nice low down grunt.I like low/midrange power not into revving engines hard so the VR suits me.It does have good top end power if you want it.Mine has been lowered slightly which has improved handling, but I also have a mk2 16v for fun days so best of both worlds..

i have the 16v and to be honest with a tidy exhaust system and air filter the sound is better than a vr.

my average mpg is around 36 so not too bad
