I've owned both the Gti and the R32 and prefer my R32. Being a family man I've got a 5dr and if you crank one of the rear windows down abit the sound track from the engine alone is worth the premium.  I get only around 28 - 30 mpg with it though and with my Gti I use to average around 31 - 35 mpg :

I'm with you on that one, although I don't have a back window that open's

Rog, do you have DSG or the keep fit gear stick?

OMG, I'd rather have a testicle removed, before being forced into a Bangle design.  The modern Beemers just look like any Jap-mobile . . .

Oops. Best start to call me johnny one-ball from September 1st.......

  Whoops - can I stop digging now?

Hi mate!

I'm well and truly back in the Land Rover camp now plus I've ordered a TDV8 Range Rover Vogue so the R36 is out of the window!

I'm sure it will be very good though!

Are you tempted by the 4wd etc?

Hi Creepy Coupe, I've got the DSG, Had the manual before on the old Gti.  The DSG is better in my opinion although my car can seem abit ponderous in normal auto mode but when it's nicely warmed up I use the paddles as I can hold on to the rev's and being normally aspirated that 's the key.  If I want to give it a good workout it's sport mode for me but that fuel consumption................

Nothing wrong with Land / Range Rovers - I came across a couple from the UK  who were racing my R32 in sub-zero temperatures on a mountain road in the Swiss Alps. There was a sheer drop on one side and I could see the small lights of hosues way below... anyway they decided they wanted to show me what their Range Rover Sports could do...  the last I saw of them was a small receding light in my rear view mirror as I accelerated to 120 mph.
