Hang on illyun, too right i will enjoy my gti. secondly, this long list bussiness is just whats in print my friend in magazines, so what i put it on here is MY OPINION and if you read my previous thread,you would realise i was satisfying my oppinion and whether or not i spent wisely in the 1st place which i have done, all im saying is, high spec a cheaper gti , add the bits to it, and enjoy it, rather then spending £3000 grand more(which buys you alot of xtras).I couldnt afford to chop mine in and have a rubbish low spec edition 30 after having a high spec standard GTI .if i want xtra horsepower, id pay £407 to MOREGO , but im not interested. 0.3 of a sec for £3000. no thanks. and tartan isnt my thing. !!
Im not as privalaged as you, i know also you said you dont have MORGAGE and such things, whereas i do and cant afford to regually swop cars more times then underwear changes!. Im not envious in ANYWAY my friend, just trying to help anyone whos toying or what to buy themselves and like ive said from the start , both are cracking.
Firstly Phil, enjoy your GTI - I'm sure that a lot of us, including me, spend hard earned cash, even if it stretches our bank balance, because we want to drive a car that we enjoy and not just something that takes us from A to B... otherwise we wouldn't be on this board.
Secondly, I don't really take all this seriously, but if I did I would be the first to admit that in all honesty, you and some magazines do make strong and valid points about the lost opportunity that is the Edition 30, but for me its a piece of history which I intend to keep and cherish and drive sparingly (also, your points aren't strong enough to put me off buying one because I'm also a badge snob and have to have that 'limited' model with the potential of 307bhp on tap

)
Thirdly, I'm not Pikey (with reference to the guy who got on the wrong side of The Doc a year back) nor am I Teutonic/Creepy who seem to like a good slanging match even though from what I've read, I have to agree with Teutonic on the issue of aftermarket Xenons.
Fourthly, I haven't got a mortgage etc... because I have - probably foolishly - spent money on cars, or to be precise, VW Golf GTIs, although thats something I aim to rectify - with trepedition - this year hopefully...
Fifthly, yes I'm afraid that despite the nasty Pescara's and the underwhelming interior, the Edition 30 is better than the standard GTI although I acknowledge that some people prefer lesser models and that really is ok with me.
