thats my point on why bother with the edition30 if they are not gonna give it the same toys, ie full leather etc, different wheels,  in my opinion ,if you have a desent spec'ed gti already , why trade it, 30hp is easy to have chipped, diffrent wheels, well thats not hard to change , edition 30 badge on boot, well give it 3 months and they will be on sale on ebay for £1, and to the answer of "well its a limited edition" , well so to an extent are the current gti's in such that you have to wait silly weeks for a new one so they are already an exclusive model!. RANT OVER! .
I Think vw could of and should of done alot better in offering a "limited edition" gti

I dont think the Edition 30 looks anywhere as good as the normal GTI, maybe it will look better in black as although red is usually my favourite for Mark 5 GTI's it looks gash with everything colour coded.

anyone got an pics of it in black?

Doc - I am dithering again  - but I think it will be red this time - going for the full Retro Look - dithered about DSG and decided no (to old to change now) - xenons are a must/CD changer/IPOD and dithering about Sat Nav (are they easy to fit ?????).

Hoping to spec mine next week also.

I could also do with seeing one in a different colour (see - still dithering) - No red it is (ho god if is awful)
Wish they did one in Graphite (like my current one ) - I must stop this or seek help

Hmmm have to say - apart from the 230bhp mod - I am a bit underwhelmed/disappointed with what VW are offering.  Would a remap take it to the standard 255bhp that Revo Technik offer?  If so that would be like the post 2000 150 and 180bhp Mk4 Golf GTI Turbos which both map to around 210bhp.  So, if that is the case, that a £499 Revo Technik - or any other for that matter - remap would take both a standard 197bhp Mk5 GTI and a 227bhp Mk5 Edition 30 to approximately 255bhp which makes no real sense.  Also, I was planning on recaros - but no recaros available - the alloys aren't that special and certainly not as good as the upgrade that the Mk4 Anniversary enjoyed - even though thay had issues afterwards and they aren't even as nice as the current 18" monza optional alloys.  The only thing you seem to be paying for is the Edition 30 badge - which would be worth something if the Mk4 Anniversary residuals are anything to go by - but then the Mk4 Anniversary was NUMBERED and there were only 900 petrol models as opposed to 1500 of the bloody things.  There is no limited slip differential that was rumored, so why the hell is this so special?!

Do VW really think we are that stupid to go for a badge, a bit of leather trim that you can't change and a power hike already available?  Also the car seems to be coming out before the plate change - I was expecting to get it at least on an 07 plate which is why I am buying a 56 plate R32..???!  Whats going on?  This seems to be VW cashing in on the good reputation of the Mk5 GTI and reliable fools/enthusiasts like me.  Very very frustrating.

Also the fully colour coded skirts and sides is an idiotic idea - image in 2-3 years when your Anniversary has small pits and chips all over the front spoiler, while a standard Mk5 GTI looks fine because its black plastic.   I am beginning to have serious doubts about the Anniversary - maybe I should just get a well spec'd standard 07 plate GTI?

I don't think this car is for me!

I will photo the information at the dealers if possible and post it later.

I just don't fancy a 25k car with tartan fabric!

I'm afriad to admit, that when coupled with the price hike, I too have opted out of the Anniversary and am sticking with my standard GTi order. And I can have it in blue.

Get the feeling that the Edition 30 has not gone down well.
Can't believe that the focus and Clio get recaros and there not Evan an option on the limited edition golf. Whats going on???
The Leon cupra is going to get the S3 engine and sill power and it's just 230. Has the engine been re worked at all or just remapped??
Colour coding, looks a bit Max power to me. Are they trying to get rid of whats left of the standard seats by putting a bit of leather on them?
Why don't the offer a hard core lightened version with LSD, reworked suspension, bigger brakes, Recaros as standard which is more driver  focused? They could even do a GTI 4motion version or an R20 based on the S3. While I'm on the band wagan why no GTI estate? Skoda do one so why not VW/. The must be missing out on sales.
Sorry to turn this in to moaning corner.
Anyone had a go in the Passate V6 4motion?

I do agree to some extent too.

I still don't know if we carry on with our Anni order or opt for a normal GTi with better spec.

I still like the idea of the Anni in principal, however I think it would have been better with 19" CH wheels, Xennons as standard, and all the option boxes ticked etc.

I understand the power thing as it would look stupid for the R32, but the equipment should be high up there.

We may opt for a normal GTi with 18's, xennons, leather, ipod connection and Highline comp anyone know what this list price for this would be?

Ok i may be biased as i have and will be sticking to my order for one however...

Everybody is talking about chipping - yes it will give you more power but bye bye warranty. I for one like peace of mind.
For me this is the top Golf - i could buy an R32 but won't. Why would i want a thirsty lardy every day car when i can have a more fuel efficient agile car with a better power to weight ratio??
The value - by the time you spec a standard GTI with some of the standard equipment of a 30 edition the value does not look that bad - in fact it makes the extra 30hp pretty cheap.
I concur with the recaros but i actually like the tartan.
The paint - well thank god they have painted the cheap looking rear valance - saves me doing it
This car will be a cracker as it is just building on what is already a very good car and that should be applauded.
Plus which will keep its value better over the long term - GTI, GTI30 R32? I know where my moneys going!
pps - Fully spec Normal GTI for me with Recaros was circa £25k.
