the 2.0 ecu wont even plug into the 1.8 loom, the 1.8 ecu is what you should use :)

well ive done what everyones said to no avail, somebody correct me if ive done it wrong.

took #1 spark plug out and turned pulley til piston was at the top, stuck a screwy in it, undid the dizzy and turned rotor arm til it was pointint at #1 spark plug, and followed the following firing order from left hand side of rocker cover

#1 #3 #4 #2

the corresponding lead went onto the dizzy cap in this pattern anti clockwise 1# top left, 2# top right, 3# bottom right, 4# bottom left

is that right? can anybody correct it with a pic  if its on wrong please?

really annoyed now

No no no ;)
the pistons are ordered 1, 2, 3, 4 left to right.  The firing order (i.e. the lead order on the DIZZY) is 1, 3, 4, 2.
