I plan to have my GTI for just over another 19 months. I’m enjoying the car now after the “bongs” have finally been silenced. I won’t be buying another VW next though. Totally disillusioned with their shortcomings re the Mark 8 particularly for those who bought their cars outright. I still love the King's Red finish with the Adelaide wheels, it’s a good looking car and dirty or clean I have never noticed a pink tinge!

Yes never so much as an appology to me directly, despite even the VW CEO stating on multiple times publicly how they'd cocked it up.

Certainly not super keen to spend more money on VW despite it getting mainly fixed in the end.

Its the bad honesty that is the worst thing.

The response from my dealership earlier today, was that they had in fact already included the £750 in the discounts, as they knew it was coming up, I have only ordered very recently though, so perhaps they were able to somehow, he did explain but I didn’t get a grasp of the numbers as I was away from home and didn’t have the paperwork in front of me!

I could be wrong, but that sounds a bit fishy to me. If that had been the case why didn't they mention it specifically when you ordered? I think the response that Joet got from his dealer sounds more honest and straightforward.

Yes I agree, it does sound a little weird, my suspicion is that they will add the extra 750 sum how and remove part of their discount, therefore keeping the pricing the same but increasing their margin, I will delve deeper for sure.

Sounds like a salesman's trying to up the margin a bit to me!

Tell them if an additional 750 doesn't come off it you will cancel and order elsewhere bet they soon knock it off then!

If drive the deal and carwow discounts haven’t gone up by £750 in the last few days then the £750 support more than likely will be funded entirely by the dealer.

As in to participate in the Volkswagen marketing they will have to put the £750 in them selves anyway unlikely that VW will be putting in this extra £750.

They were circa £5.5k, now circa £6.25k so think its additional support from VWFS

Yeah, I think that right (VWFS).

The DTD discount does appear to have increased (website: "The discounted prices quoted include an additional £750 “Volkswagen Summer Sale” finance deposit contribution. This offer is valid for orders placed with us between 16th – 30th August 2024, and delivered before 31st March 2025"), but I haven't confirmed this by way of an actual quote.

I think the official offer period runs from 23 August - 3 September (if you pop along to a main VW dealer).

Possibly, but when they first gave me a price , I revealed that I’d already placed an order the day before from MonMotors, at this point I showed him the figures MM had given me, he went back to the business manager and came back with a price that firmly beat MM, this is where they may well of applied the 750 extra, when I later asked about the extra 750, he was insistent that they had done the absolute best price they could by already including the 750, saying ‘we’ve really squeezed the margins on this one’.  taking various factors into account, I’m pretty happy with the price overall, it was very close to DTD at the time and I’d rather not fall out with them about it so doubt I’ll mention it again, with a 1k deposit and 6k of options I’ll be paying £569 pcm, DTD were a little cheaper, but amongst other things, I want to pick the car up locally.
