Have you ordered an 8.5? If so, what model and spec?
I thought it would be interesting to see if many people are taking the plunge now that the new improved model has arrived, particularly current mk8 owners, I’ve had my 8 for a couple of years now, and although I like the car, it has various frustrations, last week after a long period of little to no issues, the infotainment rebooted in a major way, the dash also switched views and various bongs occurred, due to this and the fact it is near end of warranty I visited the dealership and placed an order for an 8.5, I’m pretty excited to get it, and unfortunately know I won’t miss the 8 once it arrives.

Here’s what I’ve ordered,

Currently an ETA of 20 weeks.

Urano Grey  Now changed to Dolphin after comparing them at the dealership.

Dolphin is certainly a nice colour, but Urano is a great colour too, and it’s a solid colour, which is a plus in my opinion, it looks really good on the edition40 in the US, looks lighter in full sun, and nearly black when overcast, the red really pops against it, plus it means I can add a another option. 👍

I've ordered a standard GTI with just Moonstone Grey, to keep it under the 40K. To replace my stolen Clubsport.

Been quoted 13 weeks. Fingers crossed.

I have ordered a Moonstone Grey vehicle with Queenstown wheels. Extras include DCC, Spare Wheel and additional airbags.
Delivery in December I hope!

I should have ordered a new Mk 8.5 GTI by now (my current Mk 7.5 GTI PP reached end of it's 4yr PCP last month) but I just can't bring myself to so far (I'm still waiting for more reviews/specs/price/colours confirmation)

Yes, the pro's of 8.5 for me (over the Mk 8 GTI) are:  better looks at the front (headlight re-design), infotainment system that now works, real buttons on the steering wheel, power increase BUT the new screen looks like an ugly large ipad stuck on top of the dash, the GTI badges on the door are ridiculous, and there is still no sunglasses holder/bonnet strut/knee cubby storage etc all of which I have on my (better looking) Mk 7.5 GTI PP.

If I do put in an order it will be for a GTI (265) in Kings Red with Queenstown 19's, DCC, Pan Roof, Area view and Harmon Kardon (even though many people are saying HK not as good as the Dynaudio I have in my current Mk 7.5) - in the end discounts and prices will determine I suspect.

Moonstone is a great colour, and was in my top three along with Dolphin. 13 weeks isn’t too bad if correct, the salesman at the dealership I ordered from, thinks that the pan roof will delay mine, as he believes they only build golfs with them 3 times a year when the correct volume is ready to go through the line.

Moonstone with the gloss black of the Queenstown wheels will be a great combination.

The headlight re design vastly improves the look of the front end, much less soft looking. I’ve been driving an 8.5 style this past week, and the new larger screen is really not that bad in terms of size and positioning, it’s far better then the out going model, and I totally agree about the GTI badge on the door, so much so that I may have them remove them during the PDI.

Ordered 4th July. Standard GTI with moonstone paint only, to keep under £40k. Will change the wheels to something aftermarket. Popped in last week and provisional build week 36, I should have it mid October.
