And today's effort.....

Quick one hour wash in the drizzle.  Unusually the weather brightened towards the end, for a change!

•   Double snow foam – VP Advanced Snow Foam

•   Wheels washed and 3 bucket wash – DJ Supernatural Shampoo

•   Vac n Blo dry and WoWo towel dry

•   Wheels dried with newly acquired WoWo Wheel Towels – excellent size and loving the black colour.

•   Tailpipes polished – Mothers Mag

•   Tyres dressed – 1 coat of Hi Shine

The C2v3 on the wheels continues to impress – dirt flew off with a blast from the pressure washer.  Even though G5 would be even better, the C2 is doing a great job.  Bye-bye Poorbooys Wheel Sealant, lol.

New WoWo Wheel Drying Towels used to mop up the few drips left after a blast with the Vac n Blo.  Fantastic size – no danger of them dragging in the gravel, and black is the perfect colour for a wheel towel.  Another superb WoWo product!  Hats off to you Neil.

Nice and clean for an hour or two!

Bit dirty to start

I feel embarrassed.
I've not cleaned mine since October.

If my car looked that good in January after a clean Ms B I'd immediately lock it away and not use it for several weeks!!!

Bring them on over to my place - I'll do it.  My charges are normally quite high, but mates rates for you two.

Think mrs w will love the flappers.

It'd be worth the trip just to see your suck'n'blow machine Ms B!

Unfortunately Noah seems to have moved in down the road from me so the car would be just as bad by the time I got home again

As I started a "Thoughts on the GTD" thread, I just thought I would balance it by saying I personally think the "R" is a stunning machine (be it common or not), and I for one (if I had the money) would love to be driving one, as much as I also love my GTD.

The problem for me, is that whilst it's not a million miles away price wise from a stock GTD / GTD in price, I like my toys. Yes I know a lot of you just like a stock car, but in my middle aged years I think I've earned the right to have all the creature comforts I like. So for me it would be the following spec (similar spec if I ordered a GTI or a new GTD BTW).

A Golf R with 5 doors DSG, Lapis, Prets and some other nice toys, brings the price to nearly £39K vs £33.5k for a similarly specced (with 19" Santiago's) GTD. I'm not saying the "R" isn't worth it, it's just that even with the discounts available, unless I want to compromise on spec, I just can't afford one (and that's without Fuel / insurance prices as well).

Shame as I bet they are a real hoot !

Sootchucker - that would be a great spec.

I totally agree -  middle aged - want the creature comforts - work hard to pay for them.  My spec came to nearly £39k, but with broker discount came down to just under £34k.  Also got £15.5k for my mk6 sold privately last Sept, so cost to change was acceptable and got exactly the car I wanted.  Well, apart from the small cabin inadequacies, but have taken care of them myself.

But then you'd have to factor in the drop in mpg, coming from a GTD.  Depends on your journeys and how you drive, but it's not the best in the R.

they soon rack up when you start adding toys, ironically the standard spec on the M2 is superb and I think i have spent about £1k which is due to the wife wanting heated seats, me getting old and wanting lumber and with my practical ikea head having folding rear seats

When I looked at the M2 last week there didn't seem to be much you could spend money on if you tried...

Mind you, even with a handful of options, its expensive.
