Although I didn't have to remove the glove box.

I didn't necessarily need to take it out tbh, but for the sake of a few more screws, it gave me more headroom and saved from a few more sraped knuckles!

So all the wiring is in, ready for the lights to go in!
Finally managed to get hooked up to vids to find out my soft wear, and it's running 0651, so happy days me thinks!
Still unsure about messing with byte 18 though. Keep googling it and seeing what other people have coded to, but not many are UK cars, and not seen any that are led rears + xenons + LED drls! :/

That is my combo, led rears + xenons + LED drls and I used 04 for byte 18.

Working fine for the last four years with no issues.

I have retrofitted OEM Xenons, but without the LEDs, I used 15 in Byte 18, I found the information on this Vortex forum:
MJ2009 with BCM (03xx software)
Encoding   VCDS Byte 18 = 04
Lights go out at the tailgate opens   NO
Error message MFA   Rear fog lamp with Resistance: No
Problem with front parking light (weak light)   NO
LED tailgate light up more when braking   YES

MJ2010 with BCM from KW22/2009 (Software 0537, 0541)
Encoding   Halogen VCDS Byte 18 = 15   Xenon VCDS Byte 18 = 43
Lights go out at the tailgate opens   NO   Update on 0575 / 6 *
Error message MFA   NO   Update on 0575 / 6 *
Problem with front parking light (weak light)   NO   Update on 0575 / 6 *
LED tailgate light up more when braking   NO   Update on 0575 / 6 *

With MJ2010 / BCM 2011 from KW45/2009 (0573 & 0575 Software / 0576)
Encoding   Halogen VCDS Byte 18 = 15   Xenon VCDS Byte 18 = 43
Lights go out at the tailgate opens   YES   YES
Error message MFA   NO   NO
Problem with front parking light (weak light)   NO   NO
LED tailgate light up more when braking   NO   NO

Great, thanks!
I guess that's one of the drop down options rather than a manual input? Gti ROW or something?

Cheers

Mine was always set at 04, here's a question: does your headlights work in auto mode since the retrofit as they should: headlight switch on auto, light intensity falls, xenons come on? in auto mode mines drls + xenons all the time!

Mine work as follows.

Auto - DRLs only and no rear lights and then Xenons and 50% DRLs when it gets dark and the lights come on.
Sidelight position - DRL's at 50% and rears on.
Also the DRLs dim 50% when indicator on that side is on, although I don't think that is standard

Yes, I think it is the first option.
When I did mine there was very little known about Byte 18 and it was guess work.

Checked mine again in auto mode in daylight and in auto drls 100% and Xenons on. I'll have a look at them tomorrow. I suspect the coding. I think in the module the auto mode works the wipers as well? i'll check you coding against mine again.
