My 2019 GTI needs 4 new tyres,

ATS: £369 for 4 Goodyear EAGLE F1 ASYMMETRIC 6 (includes a £68 discount for buying 4)
National Tyres (part of Halfords): £353.56 for 4 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 (225/40 R18 92Y) (includes a 15% discount for 4 tyres)
Halfords: £364 for 4 Bridgestone Potenza Sport (225/40 R18 92Y) XL (includes a 15% discount for 4 tyres)

Is there a forum favourite or would either of the above tyres be good, my car currently has Bridgetsone on the rear and some cheap brand which were put on when I bought the car 10k miles ago by the dealer and they are done.  The Bridgetsones have clearly lasted a lot longer. Do I need to worry about the fitting of tyres at national or halfords?

Michelin would be my choice

Goodyear gets my vote. Seem to go back to them eventually after trying other brands. For fitting need to go by local reputation of the fitting depot. I tend to try to watch carefully and point out any blemishes ( or none) on the alloys before they start the job. Tends to make them more careful!
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

Recently had four 18" PS5's fitted for £113 each via a local fitter who price matched BC. Can't complain so far.

I have Goodyear Eagles all round on mine. Very happy with them, much more grippy than the Bridgestones.

If you want a top performing tyre look no further than the Assymetric 6 or Michelin PS-5.

Our Golf has PZeros on it and whilst they don't give quite as much grip as the above the wear is a lot better.

I have Goodyear Assymetric 6 on my BMW and grip is exceptional, but they are wearing fast...

AS6 all round here, fantastic tyre, softer than some though so I find they wear quicker. Them or the Conti SC7's would be my choice.

Yep, put 4 on in March to replace the original Pontenza’s. Much smoother and quieter ride. Seem to grip well.
No complaints.
