I fitted a set of ASY 6’s to the family wagon Mercedes’ E Class in 19” guise. They are still very comfortable and not noticeably harder than the 5’s that were on her previously. Grip and wet weather handling very good too. Can’t comment on them in a gti until my own is due a change

Thanks for the reply. Useful to get real world feedback rather than smooth test track reviews. 19s are a good test on uk roads. Hopefully will also get some  18 and 19 gti feedback as well.

Its worth considering tyre weights too, as these differ by a few kg amongst the brands, which all adds to the way the car handles .

I cant find any weights for the PS5 or ASYM 6 at the minute

Tyre size: 235 35 19

GY Asymmetric 5 - 9.58kg
Conti 5P FR AO - 9.8kg
Pirelli P Zero RO1 - 9.87kg
Michelin PSS - 9.96kg
Hankook Ventus V12 evo 2 - 10,02kg
Pirelli P Zero: - 10.2kg
Michelin PS4S - 10,22kg
Falken Azenis 10.43kg
Hankook S1 Evo 2 - 11.00kg
Conti 6 FR XL - 13.430kg

I am a little bit wary of tyres being made lighter. My brother runs Goodyear Efficientgrip performance 2 on his car (Skoda) and they seem more prone to punctures due to cuts in the tyre.

It could be a could be just a coincidence of course, but he has lost two tyres in a year where as he didn't have any issues with the previous heavy Cooper Zeons which he had for 4 years.

Not thought about tyre weight. Interesting difference in some tyre weights. Unsprung weight makes a difference to handling but probably only noticeable on a track. Might be better to change to lighter wheels, callipers and discs for weight savings if going that far.

Blimey, those Contis are a bit lumpy!!
Shove a set of those on some hefty Chinese replica alloys and you could get a job as a steamroller.

My fronts are probably down to 2.5mm so they'll be changed by the end of the year.

Have to say one of the reasons I stuck with 18" was not only the ride but the cost of new tyres, I'm going to stick with Michelin's and go up to PS5's and keep the PS4's on the back even though on Black circles the 5's are slightly more than the 4's.

Was quoted £286 or close to it for the Assy 6 so I'm booked in for Sunday for fitting.
If anyone wants 4x Bridgestone still legal to use as track day tyre etc drop me a message and we can sort something out.
