Sounds like a collapsed/blocked breather pipe ,crankcase pressure that would normally go into the intake system cant, so forcing oil past the valve stem seals, just my 2p

You need to take the TIP off at the turbo, check for play both side to side and up and down.

my turbo has recently gone, it took me 3 hours to take it off, costing me £250 for a full refurb (pound notes  ) and then ill fit it again at weekend...... worth just taking the TIP off to check before you get slammed for nearly 4 figures!
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

Whos quoted you all that? if the turbo is knackered replace that and go from there (yes there may be an underlining issue with a breather pipe or something) most of which you will do when you take the turbo out anyway as you'll lose all the oil and coolant anyway making it easier to investigate breathers and pipes as most will be coming off

Do the work yourself (if you were closer I would help) and get the turbo refurbished - job done

Is it a K03s?

Break it for spare, cut your losses and move on might be the best option.

Its a bit late now as the car is almost apart, new discs and pads are on and the turbo is being collected today, refurbed and fitting kit as quoted above, as for the rest ill be honest I have no faith and don't want to be in this situation anytime soon so im just going to do it.

compressions were at 150 apart from 1 cylinder at 130 but the problem is if I drive away and the valve stem seals are gone then all this will tip me over the edge.

he is a family friend and he is extremely good, so I trust him, at least it will be all done properly

I know that there were other options but no one lived closer and and we all have jobs I assume....

thanks for all your help guys I really appreciate it.

ill update as I go along and hopefully be done for thursday
