Yes slick 50 is the stuff you want, stay away from oil flush treatments they have a tendancy to block the oil pickup pipe

You need to start with some investigations - take the TIP off at the turbo side and check for any play in the spindle, wiggle it side to side and then see if there is any movement up and down.. this will check for turbo damage.

If the turbo is ok then you are wanting to be looking at the block next.

Did you get a compression test done?

Just been to West London Performance Motors and the guy there says it's either turbo or valve stem seals, he reckons it's going to be the valve stem oil seals..... He said to take it in on Monday next week and he will do a cold check hot check and wet check along with compression check, he thinks that either way it will be £700 for turbo rebuilt and refitted or 6-700 for the valve stems as long as the head is okay!!

I am well gutted! Anyone on here know a mechanic that won't screw me?

I have noticed there is oil on the cone inside the air box. Could this be a blocked pipe that's being pulled in by vacuum ?..?

Have you been using the car daily before having the checks done? Odds are you had some problems that may of gotten worse.

That mechanic has given you worst case scenario please mate get it looked at by a vw specialist in your local area have you had "Stop" pop up on your dash at all? Might be a blocked oil pickup pipe starving the turbo of oil.

I have driven it for the last 4 days, and again there is no sign of smoke now, I'm getting it recovered tomorrow to Brighton to a mechanic unless someone on the forum comes up trumps

No stop light has come on, and the mechanic said I could drive it?

Any mechanic that tells you that then says you can drive it is an idiot
