No idea wot it does in 4th because it's the Isle of Wight and only short blasts.

We should line up on the Julie at some point to see how much quicker off the line your Golf2 ABF on rod-change is vs my Corrado ABF on an 02A.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.

I get nearly 95mph in 3rd @6900rpm with 8v box although I wouldn't trust the 24 year old clocks in it.

95mph is about the limit anywhere on the island

To be fair, an 8v motor feels lively on an 8v box, can't see why adding another 50hp would make the drive feel sluggish  :undecided:

Very helpful spreadsheet, used it for finding a final drive to help shift the tug boat a bit better amongst other things.
Hope this helps with your ratio conundrum
I have made my own from it lining up direct swaps between models :nerd:

That is a mind field of numbers.
Rite had a good look through that and I think I'm after a mk3 gti 8v che,dfq or amc gearbox. Looked on ebay and is a few up for sale.
So what I need to no from guys in the no is would one of them fit my early model abf?
Would I need a new clutch? Running the mk2 8v one at min.
Would the clutch cable be same?
Would the mk2 speedo cable fit?
Help me chaps I'm going mad here

well with the standard 8v gti box if you could get to 7krpm in 5th you would be doing 147ish mph. but if you gear it up its gona feel slow through the lower gears. you may have to think about a six speed box.
