Loud Bang when braking hard
« on: 11 July 2013, 13:43 »
Had to do emergency stop about week ago and again yesterday and there was a loud bang/pop, thought my tyre had blown or something had gone on the brakes but checked it all and everything is fine.
Also passed MOT week ago and had new lower arms and bushes put on so can't be any issues with the brakes or suspension can it??

One thing I did notice was an eggy smell after the second time kinda catalytic converter smell but then it could of been something in the air?!?!

Any ideas??

Baffled and slightly worried

Could it be something as simple like you had a bottle of water in the boot?

Definitely something at the front end, boots empty.

I would say rear lower arm bolts need tightening. If you're breaking hard they've probably moved forward with the momentum

Nice one wazzer I'll check them out tonight. Anything at the front end I could check as well? Wouldn't be the mounts would it?

My money is on soft/worn rear lower arm bush,
Under harsh braking the bush turnt inside out and allowed the lower arm to hit the sub frame.
