If only you knew that you had that £4.50 of loose change tucked away in the old car

Detailers get rich on that misplaced car change.

We specced 2 GTI's when ordering opened and this is the first one to be delivered. We got a couple more than other dealers of launch cars as we are classed as a large dealer with a large through put of cars in both sales and service

still would have been better to fulfill early orders rather than have demos sitting. waiting 24+ plus weeks for a car is ridiculous.

That's pretty much on VW marketing rather than the retailer.

Trouble is, I don't think the retailers dare moan to VW about it because so much of their revenue is through discretionary bonuses and VW don't listen to their customers directly too much. They rely on customers coming back for their great cars and not for their poor customer service. If you want to run a moderately expensive new car comparatively cheap (via class leading residuals) you only really have the choice of a German car - and they know it!

Left my mobile at home yesterday (oops!)... got back to loads of missed calls and messages.

My sales lady had been off until yesterday, turns out my car arrived at the dealer on Friday and is ready for collection this afternoon

Now to somehow try and concentrate on getting some work done today before then (little is going to be achieved I feel).

Drove up there last night and found it in the collection area. The leather has the red stitching which I was told it wouldn't have, from what I could see through the window it looks great

Feeling like a big kid

Well the tracker moved to 'build in progress' on Sunday, today it's 'in transit'!

My lovely dealer called to confirm it's on it's way to the docks now!

so does this prove that the tracker is a total waste of time?

I think it proves that they just give a general idea as supposed to an exact real-time progress report. If my car changed to build in progress on Sunday, then completed on Wednesday, that would mean 2 or 3 days to build. (Which is what's quoted).

I think the shocker was that it actually updated so quickly. (Perhaps it was built a few days prior, who knows)?
