Just so I am clear, is there a further update to the order tracker that it changes from in-transit to 10 days?

How are you guys all able to determine if your particular car is in the UK or not?

When it changes to 10 days it means its on the boat. The journey only takes a day across the North Sea but it'll only change to arrived in the UK once it's been checked in, which could take a few days longer.

There is a text prompt within “in transit”, below the box that says either:-
4 weeks (which means that your car is finished but hasn’t officially been received at emden yet.
3 weeks (your car is officially received at Emden but hasn’t got on a ship yet)
10 days (your car is on a ship on its way to the destination port. For the UK, it’ll arrive within 24 hours if it is going to an east coast port).

As soon as your “in transit” status changes from “3 weeks” to “10 days”, it has left Emden and you can look up recent departures for Emden port to determine which ship it was on by the destination of the ship (assuming you know which port your car is going to: Sheerness/Grimsby/Tyne).
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Just had VW UK phone me up (the rep from Simon Thomas’ office).

They have informed me that as of 9:30am this morning, my GTD was on a transporter and headed to the dealer, they will definitely have it today.

He also said to expect a “goodwill gesture” upon pick-up from the dealer, the sales manager is fully aware of this. He wouldn’t disclose what this goodwill gesture would be – hope it isn’t rubber mats, I already bought some from TPS last week (equally I hope it isn’t a poxy pen or keyring!).

I am unsure as to the motivation behind the goodwill gesture. Is it for my car being built almost 3 weeks behind schedule (BW35) or did they dig around why my dad got his 2 months early and discover the colour change cock-up between mine and my dad’s GTDs which was down to an admin error at the dealership? If it is the former rather than the latter then I’m not sure why the dealership should pick up the tab (unless they get an invoiced discount against VW UK for whatever the dealership give me).

I just arranged the 7 day free cover so it can get taxed. Salesman isn’t in today, so it looks like tomorrow for collection. Complimentary cover came with an annual quote that is 2.5x higher than my cheapest renewal quote for the GTD, and you don’t even get a Meercat!

I think I just got my GTD buzz back!

For a GTD it has to be a set of mudflaps and a free crop duster

Mudflaps - no way i'd get those for free, have you seen the price of them?

It'll probably be a VW baseball cap that says "worth the wait!"

Seven? It’s a German invasion! Bet they never saw 7 U-boats launch in a single week during WW2!

I'm sure it's only a couple of boats really, we all know how VW are prone to an exaggeration regarding deliveries
