Poor starting
« on: 09 August 2005, 19:31 »
hey, my mk2 1.8 seems to have trouble starting up, it floods everytime, so i have to take the fuel pump fuse out, crank it over till it fires then dies, then put it back in , and start it up, even then i cant touch the throttle for bout 5-10 secs, as the revs drop as if its flooding, any ideas anyone?

Cheers,

D!

k-jet or digiphant???

the o seals on the injectors  can leak on k jets causing poor starting when its been stood as fuel leaks into the cylinders and takes many cranks until the cylinder is empty....

year would be handy but easiest way to tell is the air inlet on K-jet it has pipes going into it 4 i think and the digifant has 1 plastic tube that attachs to the side and is looped over from the top to the bottom of the air inlet

pretty sure it will be a digifant as mines 88 F and is one.  when you turn the key does the fuel pump make a noise for about 3/4 seconds then stop?

yea, pump does prime for about a second, so i guess it is what you said, a digifant.
