engine mayo
« on: 02 April 2013, 09:34 »
morning all,

got an issue with my car making its own brand of mayo in large amounts, as in the dipstick has a nice thick coating when i check the levels.

any ideas? have run redex oil cleaner through the system and is due a service by the end of the month, should i wait until after the service to see if oil change makes a difference? i also use castrol GTX

any help would be appreciated fellas :)

Have you got water injection and a catch can? as my water injection causes my catch can to fill up quite quickly and when full, I gets the same thick creamy substance build up in the dipstick tube.

Check oil cooler as water could be getting in the oil another thing are u only driving short distances as condensation from quick journeys can do this can u take pick of wht it looks like

....say'whaa? lol its a AUM, catch can is emptied once every 2months, thinking at service im gonna get them to change over the sump for the steel bottom conversion or should i just get the pick up cleaned and wait till i go lower for the sump conversion?

i had the pressure test done and no issues with HG, oil is somewhat black on the dipstick end so wondering if i should run some more redex oil cleaner through before the service at the end of the week so that its as clean as possible for when they do the oil change

i do short journeys but will be doing before and after picks this saturday as i am going south of london to pick up a goodey :)

Short journies wouldnt cause the dipstick to cream up.. thats a LOT of water to do that!

Even with the pressure test i wouldnt trust it and wouldnt rule out HG.

the thing is though that all pipes are sealed, no moisture on the oil filler cap, maybe oil filter change and pick up pipe clean could clear this issue  :undecided:

Shirt journeys may cause condensation in the cap, but very rarely in the dipstick area
