I'm about to install a boost gauge and I have read all the guides and looks easy enough............but.........pardon my ignorance

, why does it T into the fuel pressure regulator? What does that have to do with boost pressure? Wouldn't it make more sense to go on the vac pipe on the DV??
I ain't no mechanic so I'm probably well wrong but wouldn't that mean you could stick a boost gauge on any old car not just a turbo?
