I work with Air Con so in this case I do happen to know what I am talking about, it is something best left to the specialists.

It's illegal to release R134 into the atmosphere, so as Wayne says, get a specialist to remove the refridgerant and then re-fill.  If you get a mobile dude to do it then the costs should be minimal.

You can die if it's an enclosed space. Pretty easy too.

Obviously you'd have to be an idiot to do it in an enclosed space.....
