From the stories he tell it doesn't sound like its exactly a easy life
The main reason for it not being driven is when they moved in it took 5 of us 2.5 hours to get it down the drive as the gap between the house and the wall is only about 1" wider then the car!

I would love one but you can't have everything I guess haha

OK update time

A few bits arrived on the weekend....

for some reason i got a free maoam with my exhaust gasket haha

Don't get much time after work but managed to sort the tow strap
used the original toeing eye as a bolt as its a left hand thread and dont have many LH bolts lying around ha

Installed

Also decided i would start relocating the battery

A bit of a mess but you can see im running the cables through the firewall and beneath the shifter platform so i can install a isolator when i acquire one. and then back outside behind the drivers seat and along the tank, over the axle on the inside of the plastic tray and into the wheel well.

had today off work so managed to knuckle down a bit and get a few decent hours on it.

managed to finish routing the battery cables...the holes have been drilled then fitted with grommets and tiger sealed

Had a brainstorm with the old man about what else we need and instead of buying a battery box as i was going to i have have bought a lighter battery and am going to clamp it down in the wheel well with a homemade bracket

Also getting all the connections i need tomorrow so may be able to get it to the point when i just need to bolt the battery in

I then got around to fitting the exhaust

While the seat was out i decided to adjust it forward one and lean it back one as they were very upright and didnt feel right.

You can see the drivers seat is just ever so slightly more leant back but it makes quite a difference to the feel

I then bled the brakes with some help from ryan and that was about it for the day

......o yeah i couple of other things arrived

My bmx grips

And also some polyurethane mix for the engine mounts

Battery box is still necessary to protect you from exploding battery incidents - it's good practice.  I have a plastic tub that goes over my battery.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

OK so today i got on with removing the vr6 clutch and g60 flywheel setup off of the daily and return it backl to standard with one of the many clutches i have lying around

Managed to wrestle the gearbox out and get the standard clutch and dmf installed

Also the vr6 friction plate looks pretty good. so should hopefully last me untill the turbo upgrade next year.

putting it all back together was a bit of a pain as it just didnt seem to want to go but it eventually went.

got on with finishing the batter relocation at the front end.
I didnt have any connector blocks but i had a isolator lying around so used that to join the live coming from the battery and the starter and fuse board lives.

And finished

Have ordered a battery but need to try find a box to fit it..

tomorrow i have a load of holiday stuff to get sorted as im going away for 2 weeks but gonna try get a bit of time in there to remove the ths mount from the drivers side of the daily and then maybe looking at filling them with the poly resin.

I'm going to use the standard battery in the wheel well and bolt the standard mk4 battery tray to the floor, in the back.

Don't know if your lighter battery is smaller, presumably, but might help you

Have you put the third wire and resistor on the kill switch?

Yeah it is quite a bit smaller Dave will post some pics up tomorrow
I will sort a box don't worry

DH the kill switch is literally just being used as a connector block as i could be bothered to buy one and is t fia approved with the extra point on the back for resistors etc but I will be installing a proper kill switch later on.

Ok a small update before I go on holiday tomorrow!

The battery arrived

I wanted to get the car road worthy so i made a clamp to fit the battery for the time being but will definitely be looking at making a box or it when I get back off of holiday but this just means I will be able to get it started and insured, mot'd etc while I make a box.

Drilled the spot welds on the old spare wheel locator

Made the clamp

Painted the clamp, laid some stick on foam where the battery was going and bolted it all up with some threaded bar.

Obviously they're wot be any update for near on two weeks now but when I get back I will be looking at replacing the windscreen and getting it insured and mot'd and then sorting any niggles that may appear when it's on the road

Then it's battery box, heat shield for filter, brakes, will bits like fire extinguisher and then maybe try get on a track day

Any suggestions/tips/things I need to do

Let me know

Cheers lads
