K03 and k03s indentification marks
« on: 05 August 2012, 21:15 »
When looking at the plate on the turbo I couldnt see any clear markings to show weather it was
either of the above.

Where would it be and how would it have been stamped?

"KO3s turbo numbers:

KO3-052, 053,058 or (K03/82 from a Polo GTI) For k03s

If you look into the inlet, the ko3 has 12 fins, the ko3s has 8."

No that is a silencer which were fitted to AUQ engines IIRC, AUM and others look the same as k03 - its the fins you want to check out

Was getting worried, My mates is AUM and is the same as the bottom one,
Pretty certain there is 8 fins, certainly dont recall the fins being as close together as the K03 pic.

I am a little concernd about the way the car has been treated in the past, There wasnt even a gasket between the wastegate and manifold

Turbo to manifold, However imo its not really the turbo is it? Its the exhaust housing

You mean the turbo where the wastegate is located to manifold?

As that is the hotside of the turbo

there should only be a gasket on the turbo to manifold join and the exhaust housing to downpipe join
