Scale, it just didn't have the drama and scale.

It felt too initmate and local compared to a massive stadium gig.

Don't get me wrong, I love intimate gigs but this is the Olympics and I was expecting Queen 1986 Wemble Stadium not Ed Sheeran at the Apollo, which is what I thought we got.

Take the Sir Tim Berners Lee moment. We could have utilised the LED units to display a massive montage of websites scolling around the stadium. Instead we had him standing there waving. He invented and gave to the world for free the web which is probably the most important invention the world has seen so far. It has revolutionised how people access information and knowledge. It was fitting to have it at the end but it could have been more grand and spectacular.

so a full sized house lifting over his head and his live tweet displaying around the stadium wasn't enough?!!

queen 1986 wemble stadium

olympic opening ceremony

i know which one i would rather have been at...

i really don't get your drama and scale comment... there was more drama and scale in the olympic opening ceremony than you could shake a sh!tty stick at... what else would you have done or included?!

I was expecting something on the same or similar scale as the Beijing Opening ceremony. The narrative structure was interesting and I guess played to the strengths of Danny Boyle.

I wasn't comparing Queen 1986 to London 2012. The comparison was Queen 1986 stadium gig to Ed Sheeren live at the Hammersmith Apollo. The difference in scale and production value was what I was trying to point out. I guess you could interchange Queen with U2's Zooropa tour or even Take That's Progress concert. Beijing 2008 was a stadium gig and London 2012 was an intimate gig at the Appollo was my point.

The disappointment stems from that we missed an opportunity have a narrative of the history of the UK with the production value of Beijing 2008. This is scale

I have to say.. no it wasnt as good as beijing, but it was no bad show and definately something to be proud of. It was done in a very GB style way, and sometimes you need to understand the way the rest of the world views GB rather than GB trying to imitate China and others.

Difference is, if any of the performers in the Beijing opener stood out of line a bit or missed a note ect, they would of probably been taken out back and shot!

I think we may have to agree to disagree

I just thought it was disappointing compared to 2008 ceremony that's all.

What's the story with the woman in red above?

Here's an arcane Olympic question, when did the word Medal become a verb as in:

"He has a good chance of medalling in the 100m sprint" or " Team GB medalled in the World Championships in 2009"

Went to the football on Thursday at Old Traffor. Sh1te. Although how Senegal had 11 on the pitch at the end I'll never know.

Spent the weekend watching the BBC coverage and I'm really getting into beach volleyball. Not the blokes mind, that's rubbish.
......now officially dubless.
