new engine!

after a few weeks off the road, i finally found a donor 1.8t 20v auq engine!

got it back yesterday and everything seemed fine.....

driving back from work today, sounded like someone had fitted a supercharger to my car!! it's the exact noise 1 makes! any suggestions on what it could be?

also in 5th / 6th gear the noise gets alot louder and the gears sort of grind if i drop it down a gear!?

The whine could be cam belt too tight or maybe they have not filled the gearbox with oil.

just got it checked! apparently its the gearbox... anyone know of anywhere that do decent recon ones?

is yours 5 speed or 6 speed?
if its a 5 speed then i recommend upgrading it to a 6 speed as there stronger.

its a 6 speed and was told there pretty weak! just had a new turbo put on and apparently that has caused the problem?

new turbo cause gearbox problems that's a new one, didn't go kwik fit did you?
and the 6-speed are the better/stronger box.

that's what i was thinking! no i went to a mate of mine, but he's not the sort of person to give me any bull!

could it be something to do with bolting the gearbox onto the new engine i have had? maybe they guy that fitted did something wrong?

I had a mate who knew someone dat had a gearbox problem after dere air filter was changed so mite wanna check ur air filter of u have a whine

a new turbo wouldn't have killed your gearbox
