Sunday

New R sounds fantastic - Rising Blue looks stunning - good choice

Will you be selling your LED rears? If so, what price would you put on them?

No Buck sorry mate, they're the only mod that's staying on the car when it get's PX'd.

Still need to find a RCD310 and wheels to replace the sat nav and CK's which i'm keeping .

I have an RCD 310.  Just replaced it with an aftermarket unit (ebay special.)  I'll do you a deal if you throw in the LED's as p/x  (you know you want to - and I'll send you my OEM originals to replace them with.)

I don't think i'll have a problem with the RCD310 (go for around £50 on ebay), it's the wheels i'm going to have a problem with. May have to go down the replica route i think.

PM recieved, thanks Ken.

They do need to be 18" shadows as i got a lot better PX price if i put the car back to how i bought it but those replicas look spot on as they're the first Monza Shadows reps i've seen with a 7.5 rim width, might ask them if they've got any better pics thou.

I need some good one's that dont look too different from the genuine one's TBH.

There are loads of Golf R reps kicking about and i don't think they would tell the difference when on the car so might ask the dealer about putting R reps on and see what they say.

I have had a good look round at the 30-40k options but decided that new is for me and that unless you have 50k to spend the differences are not worth it. I would not pay more than for 30k for a Golf either (at least this time round) . The R is a great car but the biggest problem with it is the GTI/ED35 which offers 95% of what the R can as there is not a big enough difference between them (unless you are going to tune it to 350+ ) Anyway good luck with R I am sure you will be very pleased with it

Apart from the power difference the biggest advantage the R has over the GTI/ED35 is the 4wd system.

I am sure the R is a fantastic car and I am sure RickS will enjoy it immensely.

There is soo much argument for both sides of this, me personally having only just
purchased a 2011 GTI DSG at 21k and probably v similar to RickS trade in so i
feel very  :smug: and maybe wouldnt have got the car if people didnt trade them in
like RickS will.

Is the R worth 20k on top, couldnt tell you whatsoever as I havent driven one

Driving aside and if asked the question (pre-GTI purchase) would I buy a golf for 35-40k
the answer would be no, i dont even think I would pay 30k for any golf, post-GTI purchase
it would still be no but with a very big hint of uncertainty in the no !!

Either way RickS has bought a very fine car regardless and i hope he enjoys it and I shall buy it
end of next year for 20k
